I guess we can't help ourselves. She knew she wanted something small...and preferably a hatchback (she drive a sunfire right now, which she loathes). There was obviously no way I was going to suggest a civic to her, so I thought a dub would be a good route.

I had the first supercharged vr swap in a 85-92 in the country, I kind of miss that car and wish I never sold it but doing so brought me my 1st stang lol. The guy must have been wrong when he said 1800, our gutted 84 rabbit race car with plexi windows, door frame innards cut out, and quarter frames cut out, no bumpers, and a 16v weighed 1790. When near stock they typically run around mid to high 14's so 14 flat's really good!. Their sound is hard to beat too. PERFECT car for a daily driver. Cool to see some more vee dub love in here.

Indeed, I ended up looking at the #s once I posted this, and it is clear that the weight is probably more around 22-2400 lbs. The AC is removed, along with some other stuff, but it's by no means gutted.

I thought the sound was fantastic. In fact, I was almost jealous!

But then I remembered that I have my own little hatch/coupe. Hopefully this fall, I'll be taking this:



And putting in one of these:



Maybe using one of these as a donor...maybe not:

I'm not sure if I heard him wrong, or what, but it's probably closer to around 2200lbs. It also would more than likely have less than 190 whp.

It is the same guy. I drove the car though, and it felt faster than my car, and pulled strong to 7k. The guy that sold it to us actually works at a VW dealership. Him and some of the other mechanics there did the swap. I talked to a couple of them, nice guys.

I'm sure we'll take it to the track soon, so I'll make sure we weigh it there
