I want a polished wheel that looks killer. No drag lites...that was my old set up. Looking for a 15x3 (that will clear 13" cobra brakes) and a 15x10 w/ 6.5 BS. Im looking to do a MT 275/50 OR 275/50/15 DR. I want the tire to have the "stuffed look" so I think I will be able to stuff a 50 series tire better. Need help deciding.

Sorry for another wheel thread but I want to change the attitude of my Black 88GT

If your trying to keep the big brakes i think you should look into some bogarts, or 17" welds. Thats really going to limit your choices

That's what Iam afraid of...I've heard some guys are putting spacers on the fronts to kick the wheels out a bit for more clearance...well forget about the 15x3 at this point....I'll re-phrase....the upfront skinnies have to clear cobra brakes...post em!

Yea i think what bogart does is weld on a spacer to clear the brakes, and then you have to run a shorter A-arm or the wheel will stick out. Problem with 17" wheels is they are big money, like 3 or 400 a wheel i think

1 inch spacer with 3 inch studs and grind the top corner off the caliper and you can clear the 13's

option B is 17" welds

What's your guys opinion on the 17in front skinny with the 15in rear...I have seen a few combos that look decent but only on the net....I have never seen the combo in person...how does it look in your honest opinion?

I think they look wierd personally, ive seen a few 03 cobras look nasty with alumnastars on them, but never a fox i liked. I dont think any of those wheels are made for street use either. Bogarts can crack the welds from street driving

Skinny wheels/tires up front looks cool but to me that's all it offers...on a street driven vehicle I'd rather have better handling/braking and safer personally. I think a 17" front/15" rear would look goofy on a fox.

I agree on the safety/ handling issues...I think I might go with a 4" width wheel up front so it handles/stops a bit better. I just don't know what size tire would look good on a 15x4" wheel up front? 205/50? Or am I wayyyy off?

I dont think a 205 would work, im running a 165, 15x3.5 vs a 15x4 your not going to see any difference.

I used to run a 185/somthing/15 on a 15x5 and even that bulged the sidewalls more than i liked to see.

I'd hate to see what a nasty pothole would do to a nice expensive Bogart front runner.

Is it normal to run larger brakes up front with skinnies on a drag setup? Would the larger brakes weigh more offsetting the weight savings from the tires? Would the skinnies even grip under braking?

Just sitting here thinking. A drag setup really isn't about handling. Not even very good on the road. Usually pulling sway bars, running tubular k's, tubular a arms, manual steering, anything to lighten the front end. Looks like you have such a nice road course stang. Might be a good excuse to get a second mustang for drag use.

ok, I didn't know....I've been out of the skinny game for so many years but that helps...maybe a 185 or 195/something would be best for a 4" width.

Pot holes and skinnies....pot hole wins!

@MWOOD, thanks bro...it is set up to turn as of right now. I used to run the car at open track events in Glenwood IA but wife, kids, work weekends...you get the point haha. I will keep my saleen replicas/tires, but Iam simply bored with the current look and I want to give the car a new look....plus Iam old school and nothing gets me going more than a sweet foxbody with big and littles....hence my plans

I'm in Omaha, the land of nothing lol
The club I'm in has a bunch of 1/8th mile guys who race in Glenwood so I figured I would join them this season, change a few things on the car, and have fun

The launch is so important on an 8th mile. If you want to compete, you might have to get serious. I'm kind of struggling with this myself. I have a 408 that will never hook with anything that is streetable, but I'm not ready to give up windy country roads. Kind of sucks. For now it's just a street rod and I'm in denial.

Good luck with the conversion. How far are you going to go? Control arms, springs, anti roll bar?
