Back the tires in, do a quick spin to get them wet, and pull out in front of the water. Heel/toe and pop the clutch at 5000 RPM or better. Hold the car still until you feel the tires start to grip or 8 seconds or so.
Pull to the line and let it fly.

25thmustang said:Look at my Avatar... those are 26x9 slicks at 9 or 10 psi. That is extremely low and I ran the risk of spinning the tire on the rim, but on that day hooked to a 1.69 60' two times on a completely stock suspension sans sway bar.
You could start higher but a car thats not dialed in seems to need less pressure to take the shock and give the widest footprint.
The heel/toe burnout might be tough for a beginner and especially at the track where your going to be nervous. Id say if you dont have the desire its easier to pop the clutch and get your left foot on the brake quick. Car shouldnt move to far if the tires are wet, and you get the RPMs high enough.
Also to note, do a second gear burnout. First gear will rev too fast and the tires will spin slower than an equal RPMed second gear burnout!

mob said:do exactly what 25th said. BACK INTO the water box, if your front street tire go through it they can catch the water and when you go to launch the back tires will catch the water and spin. Back into it, brealy drop the clutch and BEARLY push the gas just to spin them in the water to get them wet, they will spin FAST in the water. roll a few feeet from the water box. Through it in second, rev to 5k and drop the clutch, quickly hit the brake for a good 5-10 seconds, if you see the tires are hooking and the rpms are going down no matter how much gas you give it, the engine starts dieing, they are great, go and line up. Rev to 4k rpm and drop the clutch, I think you should pull mid 12's atleast, with some powershifting and a few good runs in first to get some practice.

i dont know how many runs ill be able to get in. its beautiful here today, and its a pretty well known track. by the time i get there ill probably have a 45 mins wait, so im thinking ill only get 2 runs in unfortunatly.. there is a smaller track called atco around here that i would be able to get alot of runs in but they dont have an open track night tonight.
