Just completed a 3.5 year rebuild of my 97gt. Got it dyno tuned and am putting out just under 300hp and just over 300ft lbs. I found out I have a problem....my current MAC CAI and stock T/B setup is restricting air flow which is restricting hp.

So what options are out there top help increase air flow into the top of the engine??? I am trying to stay natually aspriated so please no forced induction suggestions.

I have done the following to give you a baseline for an air set up

rasied compression to 10.5:1 with 9cc forged pistons
Stage II port & polished PI Heads
Stage II cams
Ported Plemun
24 lbs injectors

any suggestions on a good air intake setup?

Yes...just get a SCT MAF and a 75mm TB and a C&L plenum...along with a tune...that will be all you need...

+1 also have you seen those new MAC MAF's where you swap your stock sensor onto a bigger metal housing ? That may be an option.

Here are two options if you want to stay NA.

1. Trick flow 2V intake manifold is a proven bolt-on manifold with performance similar to the Bullit and FRPP intakes. This intake is designed with natural aspiration in mind, the runners are larger diameter and shorter than stock PI. Peak power is increased modestly, but power after the peak is greatly improved. Prices vary.

2. Newly announced is the BBK DSI manifold (Duel Stage Intake). This manifold is based on the concept of the FR500 intake. Each intake port has a short runner and a long runner. Short runners are closed until RPM reaches a certain threshold promoting increased low end torque. When the short runners open, the powerband shifts to the high end, greatly improving high end power and reducing post peak drop off. This is basically two intakes in one. MSRP is located on BBK's home site.

Either of these intakes will be a good improvement. Trick flow improvements are comparable to either of the Bullit or FRPP numbers. I have not sen any numbers on the BBK but the intake looks absolutely gorgeous. Both of these intakes are port matched for PI heads.

Hope this helps.

Dude you really need LT's w/ those ported heads. Also the JLT RAI is a great intake so i hear, and the 70 or if you want 75mm TB/Plenum combo of your choice. Professional Products make a good tb/plenum setup that is fairly inexpensive

The BBK Shortys is your problem, Put Long Tubes on that thing and you will easily see 300rwhp no sweat, with no other changes
