I called up AAA to see how much my insurance would go up with switching to a 2005 GT.
I am 20, male, and have one point on my license (thank God they drop off after a while...). Currently Insured as the primary driver on a 2000 V6 Convertable. Currently paying $1706 a year, with having a good student and garage discount.
because AAA didn't have any VINS on 2005's to give me an exact quote...he rated me on a 2004 GT and then increased it some. Not sure how he did it, but he talked to a few people to get a fairly close estimate.
$2056.00
Not bad...only $300 more. Going from a Convertable to a Coupe makes a difference...he told me Coupes are not rated as high in the "Accident prone" category.
So, in repsonse to the other guy that said your insurance would double or triple...try actually calling your Insurance company to see. I bet it wont increase that much..even if going from an old coupe to a new one. Hope this helps.
