Guages don't fit in Speed of Sound Pillar?! *pics*

Hey guys, got my Speed of Sound A-pillar today and I put in my cobalt autometer guages and the F'ers won't fit! I think the long screws in the back inhibit them from sliding in. Will I have to dremel them off?

are they both 2 1/16 size the autometers prolly are but some are like 2 5/16ths or somethin like that

now that i look closer lol my bad didnt read the whole thread the metal screws prolly are hitting the back. I dont think many people use them to mount the gauges so unless you plan on reselling them i would just dremmel them off

I don't think that's it though. I think it's the rivets inside the pods. Ugh. This is frustrating!!!

do they feel like they hit something (like the rivet) or do they feel like they are getting not fitting because its too small like the long screws are scraping and stopping from letting it go in?

I honestly can't tell. I cna PROBABLY force the piss out of them in, but then they would be VERY difficult to get out. So maybe I'll just wait until I run the wires for these babies to attempt to put some elbow grease behind them?

yeah once you get them ready to go in there is no real need to take them back out after the wires are in place.

but make sure if the screws are pushing out on the plastic that it doesnt warp the plastic and just bends the screws. Also if they are gonna be hard to move make sure they line up level in your car how they are gonna be eye level so you dont have uneven gauges.

btw they look mad nice though

are you familiar with howgauges are supposed to mount in that pod? they are a press fit. i woudl cut off the long bolts - they are for mounting in a dash (custom sheetmetal and the like). they are a press fit adnwill be tight. but not TOO tight where you feel you might break something. if they are VERY tight, take a knife and scrape out teh hoel a little bigger until they fit snug

i had a vortech to go in but some technical difficulties happened so the supercharger was sold and now i have all these gauges and no boost whatsoever so i look like a tool lol

I had the same issue when I went to put mine in.Just cut the studs off the back of the gauges and they should fit fine.I was able to cut mine with a good pair of side cutters(duyks).

I didn't have to cut the studs on mine....I just kept rotating until they slid all the way in...the bottom gauge was a little loost (boost gauge)...so I put a piece of electrical tape around it and it's been perfect ever since

Yeah I think i'll trim the long screws then file out some of the pod if need be to fit these bastages in. What a pita!

I had to remove the long bolts to make mine fit it in any of my gauge pods. The quickest way to do it is with 2 pairs of pliars - Grab the bolt at the base of the gauge with one, then wiggle the bolt side to side and it will snap off clean. Or use a dremel tool and slice it off closer if you have one.
