Piston said:Well here are my numbers w/dyno sheet for a stock bottom end 302. I made 324.5 and I think I could have gotten to 340 or so with Stage III porting on the heads and some compression along with a better cold air intake.

NoSlo90 said:Your 331 is set up really similar to the way my n/a 302 was. Even switched to the rpm II. With different exhaust setup and tailpipes i lost a few ponies, but the II helped bring them back. If i remember, it put down 363rwhp in mm&ff for the rpmII intake test.

runningmole said:A friend had the TrickFlow stuff on his car, TWs, Stage 1 cam, Track Heat....and made 302rwhp. It doesn't take much power to get a foxbody to run quick in the quarter (assuming that is something you'll do w/ it) 330rwhp to 350rwhp is only 20hp, so it's not going to be a night and day difference. I would say get your fav heads and intake, and then have a custom cam specced for your application. Dyno numbers are nice, but once you get to the track, they dont' mean anything. My car only makes 310rwhp and 351rwtq. It's low compression (8.5) too. But when I go to the track, I have no trouble keeping up with, or beating cars that dyno'd more power. I ran a 98 SS Camaro that made 360rwhp and he beat me by .01. He was only 1mph faster at the finish too. Both on street tires. There's a member on Corral (and maybe here too) Killer Canary. He has a 95 GT VERT that runs low/mid 12s w/ 294rwhp! He has and FTI cam and AFRs, but not bad for a heavy vert.
The nice things about custom cams are easy to see. Lots of power EVERYWHERE in the powerband you desire. I chose idle to 5,000 for my power band. This thing pulls hard to 5700, and then I can toss it in 5th gear and get 25mpg on the freeway. Not just good peak power. Great drivability, and something you know is for you car. My car makes gobs of torque from idle until I shift. I can bum around town at 1100rpm in 5th gear, no bucking, no surging, no complaining from the car. I dont' even have to downshift either. Just a little more throttle and away it goes
