Have some of you seen the NW top 10 list???

I dont really see why the list says "street car". Its always going to be a debate on what is a street car and what isnt. And you wouldnt be able to include some of the more impressive cars (now that theres only one list).

Wp331, Derrick (Smokedu1) ran that time on radials. He has gone much faster since with slicks though. Not sure about Jades pass and what tires she was running. And there are quite a few street legal slicks, Hoosier QTPs, MT ET streets etc. Oh and btw my car has cats (in the garage for when I need them:D ),is completely full weight, and I drive it all over the place so I guess its the only true street car there:shrug: .

John, although I respect your opinion and what you have done with your car saying there is some sort of superiority in going fast without a power adder is very similar to somebody saying the same about going faster than a V8 with a 4 cyl import.
To me its all about "how" you want to go fast. Because these days there are alot of options. And to be honest if you really wanted to keep up with the crowd (not saying Im keeping up in any way) your not going to be very successful N/A. But your car is awesome and its been fun seeing you get to where you have with it.

It's way way way more expensive to go truly fast N/A than it is with a poweradder, believe it or not.

Derick Gregg and Jade didn't run much (if at all) this year, did they? I never heard anything from them other than a few late season attempts from Gregg in the mid/low 9's.

Vulcan's camaro is way cool, in my opinion any car that can run fast at the dragstrip is cool. Being able to put it on the street as well is a bonus. I agree with Pog on the NA vs Boosted debate either way the faster and quicker you go the more you spend. Going with a turbo or SC doesn't make a car quick unless you work out all the issues that go along with forced induction. An NA car needs huge displacement or high rpm to compete with a simalar wght/ chassis boosted car. Isn't it really a quick drag car is a quick drag car.

I'll give my thoughts on the list.

First, take a look at the "local competition" on the GM side: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=666550

They're tracking data at a more granular level which is great but the scope of our list is sufficient in nearly all cases. I decided to switch to an annual model to inspire local racers to get out to the track and drive competition amongst their peers. This allows the less dedicated racer his 15 minutes of fame even for a short period of time. Having an all time list is nice, but having a regular refresh of the times is better.

It's difficult to draw rules which prevent "race cars" and write in a definition without excluding too many cars. The most wholesome solution is focusing on what makes a licensed vehicle with current tabs, registration and street legal tires. Drag radials walk the line in some cases (single cut groove) but are DOT legal and accordingly will be allowed. I would really like to have a list with entries of true street cars along the lines of daily drivers. The faster you go the less desirable the car is to drive on the street, and throwing in roll bars makes them less of a street car and then throwing in a cage is just pretending. :) Some of the cars on the list know they’re not street cars … no way in hell are you going to see 80% of them cruising down I-5 on the way to the track or even casually cruising through town. It’s a nice thought though. :)

Next year will be exciting to see the Top 10 start fresh and watch the new times roll in with all the updated setups from over the winter months.

I didn't see the changes made. Sounds like a good idea. We all appreciate the bother you've gone through to put it on the site and keep it current. We need some discussion material too. Hope you are planning to race next year.

I know I'm fighting an uphill battle without a power adder.

I am criticizing no one. We all have to make our own decisions about this hobby: how much to spend, how fast we want to go, whether we want to trailer the car, etc. I enjoy the diversity of cars at the track and the diversity of approaches.
But the guys that can run 11's with stock 5.0 Mustang parts (of which I am not one) are more impressive than doing the same with a turbo.

Don't Smokedu1 and MrsSmokedu1 use slicks? Chung definitely uses slicks ... I'm just saying we are splitting hairs if the cars is licensed for the street and driven on the street its a street car! Whatever else the car has or doesn't have is the owners choice as long as it doesn't mess with street legality. Do ANY of these cars have cats? probably not, so from that angle none of them are street cars.
Walter

there times were run on radials, and my car ran its time on 275,s two and a halh years ago, it's also got the stock interior and a cd player. kudos to all on the list

I hit the track once this year, bad convertor, ended my season!!!

Ahh, that sucks Gregg, I was hoping you could give Eric a run for his money this year :D

gonna have it ready for season opener?

damn, owned by the shared computer, this is Eric E. not Jon.

Well I heard that #8 on the list drove from Spanaway, WA all the way to Woodburn, OR. (I'll let you google the miles) Ran the 1/4 time, then drove it all the way back to Spanaway, WA. again on cruise control getting 18-20 mpg, that and he was on 17x9" wheels with 275/40/17 drag radials. His car is also seen alot on the street/freeway going from Spanaway to Ft. Lewis and back. His full race weight is exacly what it is on the street, around 3400+lbs.

I'm thinking his car is a race car in disguise "Autobot's roll out"
