maybe you are just saying it screwey, but don't you mean more like this ...

Trickflow heads have a different valve angle than stock heads, so if Trickflow heads are used, then you should use notched pistons.

Yes, milling the heads adds additional piston to valve clearance issues.

Well not really,I meant a different notch location. Take a look at these dss pistons for example they have two different valve reliefs for the intake valve one is for stock valve location heads and the other one is for TW's. Also notice the shallower valve relief is for the twisted wedge heads. This is why you can get away with 2.02 valves with stock type pistons with twisted wedge heads. Sorry for not explaining myself better.

D.S.S. SX forged pistons

On the milling the heads and ptv issues I would mock everything up after you get your heads and if it looks as though you have plenty of clearance I would have them milled if you don't have room don't mill them.

You don't think lighter retainers are an advantage ???

I mean, yeah it is. Taking a big dump before you tackle the 1/4 mile is an advantage too. It's just so negligible, you couldn't measure it.

Well I'll see how things look when I go to buy the springs as far as getting the titanium ones or not. Still waiting to hear back from Accufab about the long tubes and the powder coating should cost no more then $250

EDIT: Accufab did write back yesterday it was in my junk mail. They recommend the 1 3/4 to 1 7/8th step headers.

The 1 3/4 headers for a 351 from Accufab are $555 with the 02 bungs welded in. I have half of what I need for the 205cc heads so once I get those I'll be getting the headers then the powder coating done and some odd's and ends stuff to finish it off.

Since I am in the process of getting this combo the way I wanted I figured this would be a good time to finish off the ignition system. My MSD 6AL box died on me a few summers ago and It was just pulled out and Ive been running off the coil since then. I wanted to get the screaming Deamon coil, Livewires and their TFI Module and also top it off with this box...opinions on the box... Im not going with MSD again.

I run standard BBK 1519 headers on my high port heads. I think the fitment issues are exagerated. My headers fit absolutely perfect. They fit a lot better than Adam's Accufab headers do on his high port heads.

any performance difference between the BBK 1 5/8th and the Accufab 1 3/4th? Also having an aftermarket K member wouldnt that help out regarding any fitment issues?

Ah, not sure. But they make Mac 1 3/4 for SNs, and BBK 1 3/4 for Foxes. I'd go for the 1 3/4. If you have a Tremec 3550 style transmission, the Fox headers should fit.

Yeah I would not even consider 1 5/8 headers for a 351 combo. If you get the BBK or macs I would cut the ball flange off to get rid of the restriction at the end of the ball socket where it necks down to 2 1/4".

The MAC's are about $370 from what I'm able to find. I think its worth it for $180 more to have something that is custom fit considering the MAC ones state that they are not meant for anything other then stock K members and Dart or GT40 heads

Screw that. Ball and socket joints practically never leak. That's the best part of those headers. I'm still running 1 5/8 headers......unfortunately.

True but if you want every bit of performance a slip fit with a clamp would be better. You can also cut the extra material off the extra material off the header where it gets so small on the end as long as there is enough material there to prevent leaks. You can open it up a little bit with no problems.

That sounds like one of those things that sounds great in theory. But if you actually did a before and after test, it wouldn't yield a single hp. It's utterly pointless if you still have cats.

You may very well be right about that but if I was running 3" exhaust and my headers got as small as 2 1/4" at the collector I wouldn't be running them that way. I agree about the cats

George Klass Recommends slipfits. Im running 3'' OBX stainless V bands. $35 each and seal nicely and its easy to throw up a midpipe laying on your back.

I run cats and I cant go w/ out them. If the Accufab's come as slip fit then thats fine but I'm not doing any cutting otherwise.
