What is the deal with the local parts store selling what they call a brake booster for a 93 cobra for 100$???? I know this cannot be right but what is it? Does anyone know? Has anyone bought one? I asked them to pull up one for my car and it was around the same price, and most of the part numbers were the same (looked at his fancy screen personally while he typed away). However, at this particular parts place there was one part number for the cobra that was different and had about a 5$ price difference as well, does anyone know what is going on here? Thanks!

Thank you for fixing it, I tried to change it for a while way longer than it should have taken me and believe it or not I am decent on a computer. I went to my profile, back to the first page of the thread, and somewhere I don't even know how to get back to, and never saw the menu you screen shot for me. The "reply" blue square is all I get in that position on my screen no matter where I pull up the thread from. I know I am missing something and once I find/see how to do it I will be slapping myself but I cannot find it. So props to you guys again coming in clutch with the save and making the world better by taking out one piece of misinformation at a time! Thanks!

It's probably not your fault. Some of my fellow "Keepers of the StangNetz" forget that new accounts do not possess all of the same controls as Official Member accounts. You should see an upgrade any second now though. Your member stats indicate it.

It is a part that you will need if you decide to do a customary Fox 5-lug upgrade.

It's a master cylinder brake booster that is just like the one that is installed in your car except that it is larger and has more surface area on the diaphragm and better mechanical advantage.

These are the things I picked up to try to finish out the carpet and the seats this weekend. Has anyone used this cleaner before? I picked it up from our detail product supplier when he came by yesterday, I have never used this stuff since we do not do a ton of detailing here (purchase welcome car mats and few other things from him). He swears by it, says he uses it in his house to clean the carpet and dilutes the crap out of it. I plan to use it in a concentrated fashion on the worst spots of the factory carpet with the carpet brush that goes on the end of a drill. We shall see, I have a few things to do with the wife today and hope to work on this stuff when we get back.

Yea that is why I was looking into them because I am planning on upgrading but if you find a 93 cobra brake booster on ebay or lmr they are double that price. There is one on ebay right now as we speak for 339.95$. Is the one at the parts house the correct booster that I will need to do the upgrade or are they just selling the booster I have now as a cobra booster as well?

@Mustang5L5 has a list of all the correct part numbers and might be able to help you distinguish what's what.

93 cobra boosters and 94-95 sn95 boosters are the same part.

Only difference is the stud pattern. The 93 booster has the fox pattern and SAE thread. 94-95 has one lug offset and metric thread. That’s pretty much the only difference.

$330 for that booster is a joke. I have one on my shelf. It’s a reman. Pretty sure Cardone did it

Just go to parts store and buy a cardone 93 cobra booster for $60 or so and call it a day

Almost all cobra brake boosters are made by Cardone. The other companies rebrand them and mark them up. I true Ford Cobra booster is really hard to find and the price is through the roof if you do.

I ordered mine from RockAuto. Paint it before installing or it will look like crap in little time.

The $340 on on eBay is a reman. Look for the small green label on the side of it. I have the same booster, here’s what it says

Here’s mine

I paid $60.

I got it on Ebay. I have some saved searches and they pop up once in a while.

You can clearly see the same reman stamp on the LMR unit.

Mustang Power Brake Booster (1993) Cobra - LMR.com

1993 Cobra power brake booster will restore the proper function of your Mustang power brake booster!
lmr.com

However, in searching, it appears these items are becoming unobtainium. I can't find any of the cardone units for sale. Looks like demand has caused the supply to dry up. Same happened to the 03-04 Cobra steering racks. The 22-2000 rack is no longer available and is only offered as a rebuild service.

Best thing to do is install a 94-95 booster. Some slight modification to get it to fit, but it will go in there. I actually have a 94-95 booster in my car currently.

I used to have a Cardone 93 Cobra booster. I sold it a few months back for $40. Now i'm kicking myself.

My cost on OE motorcraft through the shop here was 69.97$ (didn't do a lot of calling around might could have gotten it cheaper). However, I found some "ford racing" that are in fact made by motorcraft just a little larger in diameter and are a different color. I can order those online for 51$ I still might just send these that I have back and get the "ford racing" wires.

It has been many years and I cannot vouch for their construction [today] however, The last time I bought FMS wires, they arced after less than a year of use. The replacement set leaked out of the box (night time, engine running, hood open).

I haven't bought a set of FMS wires since. I went Taylor wires and cut them to fit.
