HELP STALLING PROBLEM AFTER SC INSTALL!!!! & Hard start!! ARGH!

UPDATE: I checked the TPS Voltage.. and it was at 5volts!!! I couldnt get it to go down.. Any ideas.. I am getting the 02 sensor harness tomorrow and will update you guys then. I checked for vac leaks.. cant find any but will resume checking again tomorrow.

The car starts and idles fine.. its when u get on the gas and let off it surges below 900rpms like it is about to stall (OR IT STALLS) and goes back up..

Hopefully I see some type of change with the harness plugged in.. where does it plug in on the engine btw?

Yes... my idea is that you're checking the wrong two wires. There are 3 all together (I'm sure you're aware). Voltage between the black wire and one of the other two wires should be around 5V while voltage between the black wire and the third should be around 1V.

How did you test TPS voltage?? The only reason I ask is because if the reading is true your computer thinks the throttle is wide open at all times and could be a large part of the hard start condition. TPS should be checked again and if it is confrimed at 5 volts key on engine off with the throttle blade closed it should be replaced.Which 2 wires did you check for the reading you got??

Did I also miss something about the o2 sensors?? I read the above post and only see that you want to replace a harness. Are they hooked up??

Cant remember which wires i checked argh, I believed I checked the right wire though. i will let you know tomorrow.. NEW TPS SENSOR.. the old one did the same thing.. I will put in the o2 sensor harness tomorrow (hopefully) and also recheck the tps wires. The car did not come with an o2 sensor harness when I bought it.

Might sound like a dumb question but, what plugs are you running? Hopefully 2 ranges cooler then stock. Also, what are they gapped to. Just trying to rule out the possibility that your not loading the plugs with too much fuel.

a friend of mine said he checked both of the wires and said they were both @ 5 :idunno:

So I went to put the o2 sensor harness in.. got it all connected under the car.. pushed the harness up into the engine bay.. looking for the plug.. looking for the plug.. No Plug.. opened wiring.. Looky here WIRES CUT :pissed:  . Luckily a friend of mine has a harness laying around.. I will see if I can find all the colors on my harness.. match it up with the other harness.. and splice in the plug. should I sodder the wires or can I just use wire connectors for them?.

The harness is butchered.. So I decided to put in a new harness.. It looks as if whoever messed with the harness spliced wires out for the coil (2 wires that go into the coil) and for my fuel pump to turn on. the wires that were spliced into are 2 red w/ green stripe wires and 2 green with red stripe wires.. I also had a ***** load of wires cut on the old harness. The "new" harness my friend has given me is all in one piece except for 3 wires coming out of the computer.. 2 orange and 1 green I believe.. He told me that 2 go to the tranny and one is the FP Trigger???

Update... Put the new harness in.. everything is put right and buttoned up. gone over the vacs and everything... SAME PROBLEM STILL.. and NOW the car wont idle right.. its surging at idle.. and if i hit the gas to say 2000 rpms and hold it.. it will surge at the same time as im holding the gas peddle down... WTF..

also disc*ed the MAF and the car idled very low but the surging stopped...

Did you try to increase base idle speed to help out the stalling?? How about that IAC?? It seems to me with the surge and and with the long pause of high idle after a blip of the throttle it is all pionting to the IAC valve. Need to clean the IAC and icrease base idle slightly to see what happens.

The surging I have had after the blower was all due to a lean A/F ratio at cruise. Only during cruise it would stutter like a miss fire. WOT it was no problems. Also a hard start condition for me was due to big fuel injectors and too much fuel at start up. Do you know what you A/F ratios are??

No I do not know what my A/F Ratios are.. I am going to bring it to a tuner on tuesday most likely to get looked at.. I tried messing with the idle speed and doing some other things that people have told me aswell to no avail.. NOW the car is surging at startup as if its looking for the idle.. it didnt do this when I started it 1st after the harness swap (bad cut up harness w/ no o2 sensor harness out.. Fresh harness w/ everything so I can hook up my o2 sensor harness in ) I started it up and it ran decent,, still wanted to shut off after blipping the throttle and whatnot.. shut it off.. messed with the air inlet before the SC.. trying to reposition the MAF thinking maybe it was that.. ended up putting back to how I had it before and started the car up about 2 hrs later and LOOKY LOOKY Now I have a funky idle.. (I messed with the car yesterday from 10am-9pm.. decided to call it a day after that and bad rain.. then started it this morning and I have a horrid idle... jumping from 1400ish to 500ish back and forth.. I press the gas and hold it at say 2000RPMS.. and while im holding it the car will blip from 2000 to 1500 and like go crazy.. the car reaks also of gas.. bad smell.. All I am left to do is bite the bullet and take it to a tuner to get looked at now I guess.. I have spent alot of time on something that should of taken a cpl hours.. it is only a 6psi setup.. HOPEFULLY it is something dumb and that can be fixed easily enough that I kick my self in the @$$ for overlooking it when I take it to the tuner.. atleast I have learned alot of things by this happening:shrug: 1 thing Ive learned is swapping a harness out isnt that bad as I expected:rolleyes:

Any other ideas welcome as to what you guys may think it can be and i will look at the car when I get the chance.. I am PROBABLY going to drive the car to the tuner on tuesday (Hope she makes it lol) :SNSign:

Don't let me get started on the mismatch of bolts I got with the setup.. LOL took WAY too long to install the damn SC due to things missing.. ::Rant OFF:: It has been roughly now a month with the car not running right.. maybe it just needs a good tune HOPEFULLY

Decided to go to MM (Being that the Realspeed is farther out and I couldn't risk to get stuck that far out..) and I got off the exit making the turn off the LIE to hit that right onto DP Ave and Looky here.. the infamouse surge.. guess what happens.. Im in the center lane and the car decides to surge so bad getting off the throttle (I was trying to brake and get out of gear while pressing the gas to keep the car from surging) The Car ends up conking out twice and decided not to want to start again.... leaving me stuck in the center lane LOL.. I had to push her over to the right and wait about 30min or so for her to start again .. Called my Mother (she works by there) and had her follow me to MM.. They looked at it and mentioned my BOV "Off a honda" (LOL) may be the culprit for the messed up surging.. so they were going to tell me what to get so I can do it myself and I was like NO NO NO I Am not going to drive this car back (From exit 51 all the way to the cross island into Queens) because I didn't want to get stuck again LOL.. also stop and go traffic during rush over would kill me... He proceeded to joke that people go there with like 2 gears missing and still manage to drive out of there (hah) which was no prob.. But NOT ME.. They couldnt get the Bypass valve until tomorrow and I decided it is better they do that because I have an idea that that is not the problem.. and would rather it stay there incase it isn't being that I've tried all that I can and I need my DD Up and running ASAP. Could I have done the Bypass.. DEFINATE YES.. Would it be worth it if I install it and the problem is still there and have to drive it back there.. NO..

LONG STORY SHORT (TECH WISE):Drove it there with the car surging like crap when getting off throttle.. Car conked out on me a cpl times due to the bad surging.. car wouldnt turn on and got stuck on offramp.. car started after 1/2 hr.. had MM look @ it.. Possible in need of BYPASS VALVE to remedy problem.. left it there until tomorrow when the Bypass comes in.. Will update you guys tomorrow night if I get the chance (I work late wed/thurs/fri's)

Later..:flag:

UPDATE: Got cat back last night.. Drove her from exit 51 on the LIE to Queens.. (roughly about 48miles..) and she drove flawlessly so far.. Rain sucks so I havent had the chance to test her out yet.. I picked the car up late so I didn't have the chance to ask Joe at Mustang Magic exactly what was done to remedy the problem. What I have noticed was done was that the fuel pressure was lowered to about 30psi.. and I now have a Bosch Bypass valve recirculating air.. They probably messed with the TPS and timing as well.. although at the moment I cant confirm that.. Anyway I didn't want to send the car out to get fixed but I was at my wits end being that I've tried everything to my knowledge.. but atleast the car is fixed, has a nice neat wired up harness w/ o2 sensors now connected.. and I learned alot along the way.. anyway thanks alot for all the info and suggestions guys..

I will update ya guys if I fall into any problems again.. I am VERY Satisfied with MM's Job:nice: .. I will also update you guys on what was done to remedy the prob when I get the chance to get back to Joe. And also let you know how she drives when the d@mn rain stops over here!..

I didn't get a tune yet.. I am going to upgrade my TB to a 70mm Accufab TB.. upgrade to a 10# Pulley (No more than that) and get larger injectors.. THEN get a tune.
