Holy crap, I have a mongoose kit on the way.....!

Ok guys, I got a complete low miles, vortech mongoose kit on the way. I need a little information from some of you FI guys.

The kit comes with a FMIC w/ all piping, MPH power pipe, vortech mini race BOV, and a 3.6" stock pulley & 3.2" RR no-slip pulley.

I am running a stock shortblock with the mods in my sig. Will this be too much for my bottom end? I was thinking I would have to run the 3.6" pully. I will get a built short block probably in the summer.

Also, what kind of spark plugs should I run, and what should I gap them to? .

How hard is the SVT focus fuel pump to install?

I already contacted Tim to see if he could supply the tune.
I am completely new at superchargers, so any info you could give me would be great

congrats on supercharger, hope I will get it some day. As for svt focus pump it's not bad at all. I did it with the help from this website with picture and step by step write up. May I ask how much did you get it for ?

I run a 3.12" pulley, FMIC, powerpipe, same setup really - makes pretty good power and is very safe. Run the 3.6" for a while, then move down to the 3.2" once you get used to the power.

You should run NGK BR7EF gapped to .030-.035

Pumps are easy, just gassy if you don't take your time or run the tank low first haha.

Hopefully you can get a tune for it, and I would highly recommend having it tuned on the dyno and not by mail order.

Its the SQ Trim. Once I get the built short block I will send it in to vortech and do the T trim conversion.

BennyBlown2v, do you have a stock bottom end? And will I need a tune for the 3.6" pulley AND the 3.2 pulley? How does that work?

As far is price is concearned.... how much would you guys pay for this setup???

Yes I have a stock bottom end :cough: for now You won't need a return for the difference in pulleys, just adjust the WOT a/f adjustment with the xcal 2.

I would really recommend picking up a wideband it's really worth it (AEM makes the best/simplest IMO, and its cheap too).

Also, Rhonda @ MPH said they would do a tune and support for 175. I think a dyno tune here is 500, and the guy is brand new. What would you all recommend? I figure Tim has a lot of experience with this kit..

with the intercooler put the 3.2 pulley on , you will see about 10-11 lbs of boost , if they will supply you with a tune for 175 do it , Tim as done enough tuning on these cars to know what is safe and reliable , I would recommend getting a wideband A/F meter to have on the car , (cheaper than a dynotune), you can use the Xcal2 they send you to dial your fuel in from there if its a little off

I'm running 10.5lbs of belt slip - err boost For $175, that's a steal! A wideband is a must though, saves you money in the long run so you don't gotta pay a shop to get an accurate a/f while the car is strapped down to the dyno.

You say 175 is good for a mail tune? I suppose it comes with their support, so it will be worth it. I will have to look at getting a wide band gauge. Will this pretty much be the final say in my motor safety? For instance, as long as I dont go lean (or way fat), the motor should be safe and the tune pretty accurate?

also, could you hook me up with a link to that wideband setup? Im looking at summit right now- they have a single or dual channel. Could I plug the 02 sensor in my "02 monitor" bungs on my x pipe?

You put the sensor into one of the bungs for the rear O2's - then the hookup is only two wires

I was wondering- Can I do somethings to help me prepare for the install, like install the injectors, fuel pump, gauges, etc? I am not going to have time to do this install until thanksgiving break (Doesnt that suck?!)

You can do pretty much everything besides the injectors and MAF (won't run right with either). Fuel pump would be fine to get outa the way, and gauges are fun (if you like wiring and crap lol).

I did all my wiring and gauges before the blower, then did the blower in one afternoon.

Just about 1.5 hours...its very simple.

As far as your bottom end is concerned....it should be fine. Im putting down WELL over 500RWHP with the stock bad boy as of right now....and lets just say that tomorrow it will be going even higher with my new fuel system going inplace.

Oh yea and CONGRATS MAN! You will love it!

11.6-11.8 WOT, 14.7 at idle or steady cruising.
