How can you tell what year ????/?

how can you tell what year mass air engine you have? Is it by the eec iv? Cause this guy i know is parting out a 88 notch and i want the mass air and wiring harness and such. The only thing is he doent know what year motor it is. It was orig. a 4 popper so ummmmm? He got from a guy that used works for Roush Racing in MI. Is there a certain year harness i can or cannot use? I have a 88 gt. It all free so im wanna make sure i can use or not. Thankz Jo

his 88 has mass air? he converted his 88 ya mean? well if he had it working on an 88 than it should work on your 88...I'm having a battle with my conversion. I have the wiring harness from a 93 or newer mustang and my fuel pump won't come on with it.....sucks. good luck now if his 88 was a 4cyl, then I don't know if it will work. someone will know that one though. I don't think the computer from a 4cyl would work cause the v8 uses a different firing order and obviously has twice the cylinders
