Hey, I just finished my AODE to TKO-600 swap. I have heard that the SN95 processors are fairly weak compared to the A9L ECU. I currently have a COBRA intake, and exhaust mods. I am planning to replace the heads and cam. What can I do about the ECU. I have heard that some company flashes an A9L to work with the newer cars. Is this true? any help would be greatly appreicated...

i'm sure if you search you will find enough info to occupy a good portion of your day.

i run h/c on my stock cobra ecm and have no problems whatsoever.

as far as weak or strong----ours are stronger, just a bit more tempramental.

if you wish to avoid a tune$$$$$ then i would say get a cobra ecm from a junkyard. it is already cal'd for the 24's and it seems us cobra guys have fewer driveability problems.

yep while the A9L dosent freak out when you do a bunch of mods its also a much slower proscessor. if you do a chip your tuner can write the auto stuff right out of the program, and if yuo ever do some more mods down the road you can just get the chip reburnt.

when i did the auto-5speed swap i swapped over ECU only because i got that and the pedals for a good price

EEC IVs cannot be flashed - just chipped. You can use a TwEECer or Anderson PMS as well. You really will need a chip or another one of those options with the auto computer with a manual tranny or the processor will freak out eventually. You'll get random missing, and other strange things. Or get a T4MO (GT - manual) or J4J1 (Cobra) processor. We've done tons of chips for tranny swap cars - very easy to do.

I think there are some threads in the tune section that compare the tweecer and pms. search under the topic [ben stiller voice] Doo it [ben stiller voice].

I have the tweecerR/T and like it alot there is a great deal of help in the EA program and forums now for the tweecer but still preaty weak sauce from the manufacturer as far as new releases.

From what Don posts about the SCT pro-tuning stuff it sounds like it is a AWSOME setup all around. If I didnt already have the tweecerR/T I would be looking into that. The PMS seems to be more user friendly but IIRC is lacking in a few areas as far as how much you can controle compared to the tweecerR/T. The SCT pro-tuning seems to be the best of both worlds.

Hel Blksn9550, there is an update version of Tweecer (1.30A10). Go over to the EEC site and they have the download over there.

also, it is a misconception that the A9L is better than the T4M0 and J4J1. the 94-95 eec's dont take as well to mods as the fox eec's do when not using a tuning device. however a tune is something i would consider necessary with an h/c/i swap anyway, so it swapping for the A9L is a waste in my opinion.

Like he said, there are threads on here comparing them in the tuning section. But the PMS lacks the control to turn on and off options like EGR or fan settings(im pretty sure), but as far as tuning the car to run well...the PMS can do is just as well as the tweecer. And also, where the PMS doesnt have the options for some of the tweecer things, it definately makes up for it in other "luxury" features....but like we said, that thread will have all this covered plus more.

I think it is more fair to place the PMS and SCT in the user friendly category.

Tweecer is mostly hands on, no frills, gotta know WHY to make a tuning change kinda thing.

Tweecer is not too costly ... that is true ... but ... that can be said for most older tech which Tweecer is when compared to PMS & SCT.

Plus with the PMS, you've gotta finda home for all of that equipment. Sheeesh. The Tweecer is invisible.:D From what I've read, most peeps tend to lean toward the PMS because of its ease of use. I tend not to take the easy road. I like as many options as possible when doing things, but that's just me though and I've been that way all my life. Just make sure whichever unit you choose, make sure it gives you what you need and want and you should factor future updates and cost for those updates too - free or does it require more cheddar.:D
