:nonono: Someone in an SUV stopped fast in front of me at about 25 MPH and I turned the wheel and hit the brakes but it locked up and hit their tow hitch. Hit the dr side light, bumper hood and both air bags popped. Car looks like freaking new other than that but 6k + dammage.:nonono:

damn man that sucks. I had the exact same thing happen to me, i had broke an abs sensor working on my axle bearings and then i couldent stop.......i skidded into a car.....

anyhow, 3 years later i still dont have paint.....sucks sooo much man

ABS isnt an excuse! You got to be a proactive Driver driving these cars....Anybody can feel Like Schumauker in a M3 with all the bells and whistles but in our cars you gotta be on your Ps and Qs or it can bite ya....

Not saying it was your fault...Just saying it might

Good Luck tho:nice:

Sorry 4 2 threads. I asked the mods combine them..must have had a bad connection. I dont know what I am going to do right now just yet. Kind of shocked more than anything. I think my tires have tread but not a lot of traction if you know what I mean.

That sucks but from expierence that is not 6k in damage if you do it yourself...When i got in my accident I screwed up my header panel, both headlights, hood and that was pretty much it...At the same time when i bought the car the fender was a little screwed up and I also replace that. I got the header panel for $100 or so, headlights for like $80 or $90, hood was like $635 with tax (Cervinis + they are in NJ), fender was like $120 shipped...Then I got my whole entire car painted for $1500...The airbags i did it the cheap way. Our steering wheel style airbags come in other ford cars such as tauras and escorts. So I found and escort took its module, sensors and driver side airbag from the junkyard for $100 on a side impacted car...I then had to modify the bracket for the module and the airbag sensor modules to fit right. for the passenger side I ripped the airbag out and took the cover off of it (drilling out all the pop rivets) I then super glued the cover back together identically and repainted it the stock color after I knew it would hold. I then glued the cover right over where the airbag normally goes and it looks like I have one...The only thing is you wont have a working passenger airbag so tell people to buckle up

im really sorry to hear that man, that really sucks. Ive always thought of your car as like the exact equivelant of my car on this forum (identical hp/tq numbers, same gears). Not to mention I am running your old street heat intake on my car lol. I dont even know what I would do if I totalled my car, I'd probably take out the motor and throw it in a foxbody. Sorry to hear it though:(

Sorry to hear this.

I had a similar experience two weekends ago with a suburban pulling out from a side street across a four lane road with a center turn lane. I was going 40-45mph and with all my lights on, he pulled out, freeked, came to a stop over my lane, all while I'm slamming on my brakes to keep from hitting him. Fortunately, I stopped 3-4 feet shy of him. The guy took off as soon as I stopped and he almost hit two other cars merging into the other lanes.

If I still had the stock brakes and suspension, I guarantee you I'd have plowed into the suburban big time. ABS came on and everything. My tires are only half worn.

Be glad you're ok and not hurt. Good luck and get another stang!

That sucks. Sorry to hear that man.

I had something similar happen to me on the highway when I had my ranger. Traffic came to a screaching hault and I slammed my brakes. ABS never did it's job because all 4 wheels locked up. I slide into a ditch and the speedo read 0 mph while I was sliding.

From I was told. ABS can only work correctly if at least one wheel stays spinning. If all the wheels lock up, then the puter thinks it's stopped when really it's not.:bang: :bang:

I never wanted to test out that theory, so I just go by it..:nonono:

"ABS never did it's job because all 4 wheels locked up."

Wow. This must have been what happened to me.

Thanks for your comments guys and again I apologize for 2 threads. Something was going on with the site when I posted. I would like to keep the car and bring it back to life. If I do bring it back from the dead..well any mustang I have WILL have at least new cobra brakes AND anti-lock tested.

My driving skills are very good. IN THIS SCENARIO (emphasis not shouting) I am DEFINITELY blaming my accident on the wheels locking up in that emergency situation. No question. Not flaming anyone BTW but put yourself in my car at the time of the accident. THEN avoid the accident successfully and then tell me don't blame the anti-lock. I had ZERO time to "pump" brakes. Not going to argue that, just the facts. If the anti-lick had kicked in (and my tires had better grip) I could have avoided it. Aside from the fact if I could have anticipated it ..but that's why it is called - accident.

EDIT: LOL, OOPS I said anti-"lick." Now that would be an interesting feature. I would like to install that on my stupid pet that licks himself so loud in the middle of the night that it wakes me up. What would be even funnier is to watch the "anti-lick" in action and the look on someone's face when they were attempting to lick but the anti-lick kicks in. Ok, I needed that laugh.
