jeep failed inspection for 2 tierods. they wanted 300 and some odd dollars, so i got the parts from work for 50, and tried to do them myself with 96gtho, and accomplished jack squat. we couldnt even get the drag link off, much less get one of the old tierods to spin out, so we tried to put it together and the bolt in the stock tie rod started spinning so we couldnt even get it back together, my friend had the idea to lube the threads to get it so the cotter pin would go on and that worked somehow and the tie rod decided not to let the bolt spin in it that time.
so instead of paying 180 dollars for a shop to do it and align it, i wasted 3.5 hours of my life trying to do them, and tomorrow i get to spend the same 180 dollars to get it done.
they also pointed out my rear wheel seal is leaking, so then after i get it passed i gotta round up gear oil and rtv and wheel seals to do them this weekend before the gear oil kills my pads and parking break shoes.
never in my life have i wanted an f150 more. i havent even done anything rough to this damn hunk of **** but drive it.
i hate jeeps. "some people were made to drive jeeps every day" is true, but i am not one of them, in the least bit. my mostly highway mile grand cherokee with 145k on it shouldnt have the laundy list of parts it does ( motor, 3 water pumps, radiator, fan, relay for fan, 3 rear main seals, countless fluid flushes, 500 dollars worth of new style oe brake calipers, pads and rotors, ect, ect)
an my insurance for the next 6 months is due. so the 1500 i was gonna spend on shocks struts spings iso's cats upper and lower control arms just went to insurance and my pile of steaming cow **** jeep.
i know i know, thats life, but man am i dissapointed in myself that i bought a jeep.
live and learn i guess. and pinch pennies till i can finally spend some money on my friggen fox.
