I just purchased at 95 Cobra, what to do?

Well its official, no longer a ricer,lol got rid of the civic si maybe 1-2 weeks ago, and today i just purchased at 95 Cobra with 80k , in red. paid a lil much 9,900 here in so cali but the condition of the car is well worth it (everything else i looked at was crap). I pick it up later this week since my bank is closed today, pics will be up and everything I think the earlist ill have it is wends.

Whats the best way for me to make this car a 13 sec car, im thinking gears and opening up the exhaust, and intake should get me high 13s

wow man, welcome to the sn95 world. yes, gears are totally your best bet, then open up your exhaust, i know cali runs the smog, like here in MA, so if you git an off road h-pipe, keep ur cats. get some 3:73's etc and it will be a diffrent car

Gears will definitely wake up the beast and put it into its power range much quicker. The intake well you could just find a ported lower our pm tmoss and see how much he charges for porting I've heard he does a great job.

well has a cobra intake manifold stock, i was refering to like a bbk cold air induction. i dont think i need to change intake manifolds. but it sounds as if your saying if i would like to, i should only port the lower and upper shouldn't matter as of yet?

the confusion came bacause when someone says intake on here most assum intake manifold because its a common modiffication on our cars....even though you have a Cobra, i think an Edelbrock performer manifold would be a very nice piece and give you some decent gain since your GT40 heads are better than the GT's E7's....i would do gears first...and follow that with an edelbrock performer manifold, and a homemade cold air intake.....

oh and i wasnt thinking...exhaust wouldnt be a bad idea....

Gears and 555r's. I'd say you'll be close to or in the 13's if you drive well and are in the right conditions. 9k isn't too much at all for a clean cobra, you got a good deal. Welcome to the SVT family.

BTW: Don't waste your money on a BBK cold air. Just use a drop in K&N and remove the silencer.

don't forget an aluminum drive shaft with those gears. and a bigger mass air meter would help out also.

Personally, I'd spend $$$ replacing worn/broken items. Even though the car may be in great shape, it is still 9 years old...stuff breaks and wears out. Before doing the mods, make the car as solid and reliable as possible. Give it a good tune-up, put in a better clutch, change all fluids, check the trac-lock, get some nice rubber & break pads and upgrade yr worn suspension and anything else that should be replaced. When you are sure that your car is solid and reliable then invest your $$$ in making it an animal. And welcome to the SVT Club!

All Cobras are made by SVT.....

btw, I second replacing all worn/broken parts before you mod the car any. Its nice to have a reliable car

I've seen 3 95 cobra's in my area, none have those "SVT" emblems on the back.
are you sure the "SVT" symbol, or SVT is even afiliated with the 94-95's?

I've only seen the "SVT" trademark on 96's and up. right beside the tail lights. Their tailights are vertical unlike our horizontal "RETRO" style lamps.

i think the 94's didnt have SVT badges on them, but the 95's do...but they ARE in fact SVT Cobras....

The 94's didnt come with that logo on the back trunk lid. The 95's did.
Someone beat me to it though.
Look at my sig. I know the A9l this is a heated debate but my car is wayyy better now and i lvoe it. If u had a Gt then the Intake would be worth it but the cobra will be fine until you get a blower or some sort of power adder. Gears, O/r Exhaust and a catback would be sweet. Subframe connectors are a great mod to make your car feel much better. A short throw shifter makes the tranny feel like its high class import tranny. Dont bother with the throttle body. Accufab would make one if it would help our cars. A CAI sounds cool and looks nice but i dont really beleive in them.
You could get a zex 125 shot and probably run 12's with what everyone has listed.

I would open the exhaust up and let her breath by putting some O/R pipes on. Then look into getting some 373's or even 410's. With those two modes alone and some traction, you should be close to 13's. Welcome to the boards.

Definetly do rear end gears best bang for the buck. Then do everything to make it breathe better! I also agree replace broken/worn out parts or anything questionable first. You will be a whole lot happier if the car is reliable 1st off.

so hows it feel to drive something thats actually got power and god forbid something that actually has real Torque? The Civic SI is a frigging joke, welcome to the 94/95 Mustang family .

Heres the run down. You dont need to swap out your cobra intake, its good for up to 400 HP as it is. Free up the exhaust w/ some free flowing mufflers like Dynomax or Magnaflow. Put in a set of gears 3.55's or 3.73's and w/ some traction ( Nitto 555 Drag Radials ) you will be busting 13's. Upgrading to a bigger mass air meter is not a bad Idea, go w/ a Pro-M 77 or 80 MM, dont get a 75 MM Bullit b/c people have issues with those ones. The 94/95 Cobra was rated at 235 HP but its common knowledge that it was under rated from ford like they do much of the time w/ the Cobra models. There actually closer to 250 HP.

You really dont have that much work ahead of you to break 13's with it. Not like the gobs of money it would have taken to get shoe box honda to run 13's.
