There is a guy on my street that's got a late model z28 (near 300 hp) . Normally I wouldn't care, except that every time this guy passes my house, he "powers up", makes sure I see him or hears him, it's always in front of my house when the stang is out front. YOU ALL KNOW THE TYPE. I gotta show this guy what time it is. His car is stock + a cat back.

Can I beat this guy? I have 3.55s, alum Drive-shaft, pullies, Mac shorties, and a Mac cai.

I have, but is not installed yet, a Tf upr/Lwr intake manifold and a msd 6al, and a In 75mm Pro-M, on it's way this week!

I have stock heads and a 5-speed, Can I take this guy! If not, what's the next step. I don't have money for a blower! I want to invite him to the local track, for witness sake, and cut him a new one

no you wont beat him, esp if he has mods
unless he is a horrible driver
and you are an excellent driver, with slicks

Cheapest way to get quck HP IMHO if your motor is up to the task. Also make sure to upgrade the fuel system while you're at it.

Beat him at his own game. You have one of two options. Cut off your mufflers or 2: grow a bigger mullet than him.

But LS1's are fast as ****. A 5.0 needs an H/C/I to beat one or so Ive heard.

you dont have 3k but whats your budget?
for cheapest power you can do a fuel pump and nitrous kit
and if money left over, get some drag radials or slicks
and a few $ for gas to practice launching

The intake will help your cause but you will need more. A nitrous kit will be the best bang for the buck that and some drag radials will probly be plenty enough to take him out if he's mostly stock. If he's not stock he might still beat you though.
I've got a friend thats a avid chevy man and he's rubbing in the fact his 2002 SS camaro will smoke my poor little 240 hp cobra. I gotta little surprise though for him coming pretty soon. I'm more than likely going to get me a vortech SQ trim after I do a leak down and compression tests.

Look around for a used h/c setup and supporting crap then you might hang close since the intake's on the way already. If worse comes to worse make some sweet love to his sister.

Yea Give us the year. Weather it is Stick or Auto.

if ur going to be on the 1/8th or 1/4th

ur going to have a better chance with an ls1 in the 1/8th.

1st reason there power band is allot higher then ours
2nd most of them blow the tires off one cause of no suspension 2 because they dont know how to drive because mom and daddy bought them the fast car they want.

If it is a LT1 there r chances after u get all that stuff done u might take it.

Also he might have drove that thing in to the ground and have probs with it and not know it.

Let us know what u find out.

I have a 95 Cobra with Full exhaust and 4.10 gears, and timing bumped and a very nice suspension and 1 or 2 more things. and i can put about 2 cars on them in the 1/8th but 1/4 is kind of hard.

And Good Luck

lt1s are a lot easier than the ls1. i barely beat a modded ls1 with h/c/i+vortech.

Good luck if it's an LS1 car. Here's how an LT1 race went down without the bottle. My buddy was telling everyone I was in his rearview mirror the whole race.

The good news, video doesn't lie. He squeaked passed me at the finishline.

How to beat a ls1 even a lightly modded one: "SEE SIG". lol, I have had a problem with only one, he had cam, heads, lid, fast, exhaust, tune. It put's down 400+ hp. I cannot beat him heads up, and I hang with him with the nitros on. Before I forget again, the performer is holding me back right now, going with edel rpmII or holly systemaxII.

All that really matters is he has 50 cubes on you

You wanna use your strength of a good low end
and
You D O N T wanna allow him to use his strength .........
which obviously is ........
A strong top end

Don't even think about running him from a punch or roll

Very sticky tires and a ratio a bit steeper than 355's would be nicer
for what you are trying to accomplish IMHO.

Good Luck

LT1or LS1 yo uwill not beat him. I had an LT1 auto with exhaust only and street tires spinning that ran 13.9 let alone LS1.

Nitrous will be the only way wit han LT1 and that might make you dead even at best based on my experience.

H/C/I AND vortech to beat LS1?? What are you guys smoking? A stock LS1 dyno's 285- 300 or so rwhp (I checked it out over on the z28 sites) and runs 13's on AVERAGE ..note I did not say modded OR always. A H/C/I and BLOWN 302 will KILL an LS1. H/C/I alone is 12's guys...

All so very true

B U T

We are talking about driving and not dynoing

In this case ... the skill of the driver is everything

In this case ... David could very well slay Goliath
