If your from R.I. come on in!!

My name is Ray, I'm from Cranston, I've worked at Tasca Ford, but I am now a United States Marine and have been living in Cali for the past 5 years. I've only had my 95 Gt while I've been in cali so I don't know what the car scene in R.I is really like?
My brother is telling me the smog laws and sound laws are getting really bad!! Every state has bad laws and I'm coming from Cali (the worst of all), so how bad are these laws really? Every body who reads this post knows of a couple of stangs, in the area and how many of them actually got pulled over for mufflers and/or cats or could not pass a R.I. smog check?
Shop selection in R.I. seems ok, between Mike Dez, La Ferriere Racing, and FTI (flow tech induction) is in coventry. Just let me know what is going on, in R.I., it's a small state I might know you or you might know me!
Thanks

The worst as far as the noise issue goes is Warwick. First time I got pulled over strictly for noise was in Warwick. State police have been in back of me many times and I never an issue. As far as shops, go with Dez....Ed from FTI doesn't have a shop, he mainly custom grinds cams and does port work on heads. Personally I had bad experience with Ed and will never let him touch anything of mine again!

You shouldn't have an issue passing the smog test if you have cats. Although I know someone that passed with out them and he had some mods....as far as I know they aren't load testing them anymore either, just a sniffer

That does not sound to bad at all!! In cali we have a visual cat inspection, then a sniffer on a dyno, up to 60 mph. I have a extra catted h-pipe if I need it and I might get bassani's x-pipe with removable cats and slide in straight pipes. Thanks for the info

rhode island on the check in!

to be honest with you i know ALOT of guys with stangs, raw lifter is right.. you wont have too many problems.. if you come down here, and if you have tint on your window, stay OUT of East Providence, big dickheads over there! Warwick is big on noise, even music so theres another precaution.. Otherwise, providence just doesnt give an ish! listen if you come down to Providence and get to know all the guys im with, and cops see you, for some reason you wont get into trouble.. the Providence/North Providence cops for some reason tend to like us, especially if we're not bein ass' like the ricers out there...

as far as passin laws, RI is easy, no sweat! you COULD grab a stock exhaust system for cheap probably and just throw that on when u gotta go for emissions!

Is emissions every year or two years?

Another for Providence checking in :flag:

I think they go by your VIN #. Not to sure.

If you remember any friends @ TASCA they should be able to help you out.

My car passed w/ flyin colors. TASCA did it. I have few list of mods including no cats. My car is very loud with the setup I have. Only got pulled over twice for it by the staties. They asked me what I had done and told them. No ticket issued.

How is your car running ???

What are you looking to get done to your exhaust??

As far as dyno / tuning ..... www.dezracing.com

mainly welding, i do all my work on my own. I just need a good shop for any thing that needs to be welded or when some of those exhaust parts just don't want to fit right. Once I move home I will have a torch and I am taking welding classes, so I just need a backup shop, I guess you could call it.

I was going to look into a good place to get my car painted when I get home, I will have to look into AutoPaint. I still know the paint guys at Tasca but they have a busy schedule with a small body shop.
how are the prices where you work? lets say 2 stage white on a 95 GT

Prices are going to be dependant on how much disassembly you do on your own, how much actual body work the car requires and whether or not you completely disassemble it or if you mask alot of trim and mouldings. Plus how many parts you paint off the car.
If you e-mail me before you're ready, I will make sure they know you work at TASCA (Carl, owner of Tasca is his best friend) and also tell them that you know me!!!

That sounds good, I will make sure I keep in touch with you. What is your e-mail address? Where are you from and where is your shop?
When I do get it painted I am not sure how much of it I will do my self but I do know I want it done right. weather stripping, trim pieces, lights removed and I will have a aftermarket fiberglass hood when it goes for paint so that will need to be preped, fitted and painted. As of right now the car needs no body work, been a california car its whole life. I will look into it when I get home in Dec.
