Hi,

I have the 89w/ GT3 body, I need to replace one of my armrests. My interior trim code says "DA", which I read a D for cloth/vinyl seats, and A for Titanium - but the only '89 arm rests I can find are the "smoke gray" color - which looks correct, but it's a different color code than the titanium that replaced it! Should I go ahead and get the smoke gray ones? Also, any idea why it would have the "A" color code when the Titanium gray hadn't come out yet? The date code is 10/89.

Are you sure the car is a 1989? 10/89 could possibly be 1990 as Ford typically changes model year around Sept

Check the 10th digit of the VIN.

K= 1989
L= 1990

1987-1989 is all Smoke Gray. 1990-1992 is Titanium. Could oyu post a pic? There are differences between 1989 and 1990 interiors

10th digit is an L! I do not have a pic right now but it sounds like it's the 1990 version. It has the 25th anniversary badge on the inside.

The badge doesn’t really help. That came in both mid-late ‘89s and early mid 90s

Would need to see the dash really. That's where the differences are. But from what you've posted, it should be a 1990 and that panel does look like a 1990 panel gray, although very dirty

Differences in the dashes that I know of between the 87-89 and 90-93 dashes are:

1) Fuse panel is built into the underside of the dash with a fuse door cover on the 87-89's and on the 90-93's it is under the dash.
2) HVAC controls - will not interchange.
3) Gauge clusters are different in the wiring but will physically bolt up to the dash, 87-89 are flat on the bottom where the 90-93 are curved to account for the air bag column, and all 87-89's are 85 mph speedos with some of the late 89 5.0's getting the 140 mph unit with the 90-93 5.0's getting the 140 mph speedos and the 4 bangers getting the 85 mph units.

Hopefully I got that stuff correct...

Yeah the whole interior needs a good cleaning.
