Its Back! The blower is back!!!

Im sure most of you may know that my blower recently surged 2 weeks ago and iw as left without it for the past 2 weeks... it finally came back and it looks prettty!!!! Its not an A trim anymore and it is now an S!!!! Vortech even polished up my housing to a mirror finish now! I have never gotten it soo shiney!

the great thing is... it is a V1 S trim inside an A tirm housings.. I can now BS people saying im running an A trim at only 5 pounds of boost, but little do they know heheh...

Anyways, my blowoff valve i had on there before was a Greddy Type S which i think is rated to 300 hp... that may of been the cause to my surge...I ordered a new blowoff valve today next day air because i wanna get the car running ASAP! The new one is a greddy type R... the outlet is much bigger then my old one.. my question is.. is it too big or just right for my setup???

they say a min of 12 lbs of turbo boost... I posted over on the DSM message board and they are telling me this BOV will be just fine and turbo boost is rated much higher then blower boost soo i should be fine.. what do you guys think?? should be fine?? If anything, it does have a soft hard adjustment on it.. ill set it on the soft side... tomorrow the BOV should come in the mail, and ill install the blower right away..

Also... is the blower whine gonna be much louder since its now an S???

i dont think i can accurately answer your question the BOV... i am not terribly familiar with atmospheric type valves except they can make a rather tastey woosh :rlaugh: . as for the freshly "warmed over " a-trim..... nice :nice: ... its gonna be a pig now. with a v1 blade you should notice a pretty huge difference in whine due to the impeller design. v1 vortechs are notorious for their wicked ass whine. :D enjoy... i dont think your neighbors will though. let us now what you think..... i personally run a novi 2000..... its such a juggernaught :hail2:

Your just going to break it again cuz you dont know what the hell your doing underneath that big ass hood of yours....Good luck!

michael... i have 24 lb injectors with an FMU anda 255 intank pump.. i do know that the injectors are pushing it.. really pushing it!!, but for christmas my fasther is getting me a mass air conversion and 36 lb injectors soo i should be fine then... but for now im just gnna be easy on it for this month...

Mike and dagger.. thanks for the support.. thats all i need to hear right now after getting my blower back

Bad idea in my opinion - only takes a brief moment of it going lean under boost to pop a head gasket or worse. I'd wait to install the blower until you upgrade the fuel system. Or explain to your dad the necessity of Santa dropping that stuff off a bit early....

Since when does the impeller make the noise? The whine comes from the straight cut gears. The new V-2's have helical gears which are low noise.

Mine is too. My friend had the same A-trim as me, and it was much quieter. I don't know how much my idle speed and pulley size affects how loud it is, but our cars were not that far off, yet his was really quiet.....and it was a V1

blackfox-

u are right man :bang: .... geez late nights a too much nyquil to sleep sure do impair a person sometimes. :D . the gears are what will make it louder, but i guess the new v2 might have a different design in that department???? . i thought he got it rebuilt with v1 parts. oh well, thats enough late night talk for me... i just fired myself

OMFG!!! i went for a ride and took my friend... this thing pulls like theres no tomorrow!!!!I limited myself to shifting at 10 psi until i get the timing retard this weekend... all i know is that its unbelievable now

Positives- alot faster.. the blower is nowhere near as hot as hot my a trim used to run.. that thing i could cook an egg on..

Something is wrong tho... as soon as im in boost, i get a god aweful rich smell and burn in my eyes... its horrible!!! i did a test.. my fuel gauge is under my hood and i had my friend rev it... at 5 pounds of boost, my fuel pressure jacked up to 80!!!!!.... im guessing it would be the FMU calibration?? thats the only thing i can think of that would bring it to 80 wow
