Just bought a Sniper interface..

ok, i just want to clarify something for everyone reading this thread.

none of the tuner companies (SCT, Diablo, Sniper) can make more power or make the car run better than the others. it's all about the person who is doing the tuning. all tuners tune the same parameters regardless of the software. someone familiar with all the tuning packages is going to be able to get the exact same power no matter who's software they use.

its hard to say its not spam, when your first two posts are just about one product.

in all honesty, it sounds like your run of the mill handheld tuner. xcalII and predator do all the things you just listed.

im still waiting for a apparatus/program that can modify my timing and fuel tables at 500rpm increments, that can compensate for blowers or increased displacement by having the ability to adjust airflow or VE tables. a tuner that has the ability to log additional 0-5v inputs (like a wideband or gm 3bar map sensor). id also like it to include a logging system that is capible of up to 300 samples/second, and not a ****ing handheld, i prefer a obdII to usb interface and run it all off a laptop. basically i want DSMlink for my mustang, however seeing the masses response to tuning is "take it to a dyno" i highly doubt end user tuning that is more advanced than the current dummyproof handhelds just will not happen.

the SCT Pro Racer Package is about as close as you are going to get to a DSMlink for our cars. you have full control over every ECU parameter. you cannot however, tune on the fly. you have to reflash the computer whenever you change the tune.
as far as datalogging, the SCT Raptor and SCT Livewire both can accept 4 0-5V signals. i'm not sure of the sampling rate, but it's more than fast enough to tune with. if you have any questions, you can IM me on AIM.

the Sniper Commando can do everything that the SCT pro racer package can do for about 150 dollars less money, and you still get the Special Forces program that builds the base tune files for you for your modifications adn you still get to tune 2 cars for the price of one .....just trying to clear up those few facts about Sniper

good info, if i decide to take the GT any further (which will likely wait till its payed off, something about massively modding a car youre still paying for just gives me chills) well be in touch.

That's not entirely true. Some software packages do not give you or display all of the parameters (functions, scalars or tables) that are available in the Ford pcm. So even a "superior" tuner can be handicapped by software that is lacking features. Some software is purposely limited by the manufacturer and some is limited because of the lack of expertise, knowledge or experience.

:bs: the basic components of making hp are fuel and timing (in non-vct cars). if any software doesn't allow you, for any reason, to alter the a/f ratio or timing to your exact specs, it's not a true tuning package. i was one of the first people to use the EFI Solutions software when it came out. (from what i've heard, Sniper is what was left of EFI Solutions) it allowed full control over a/f ratio and timing. down to fuel injector slopes and maf transfer functions. all the timing tables were there. mbt, act, ect, borderline knock, etc. and this was 4 years ago. now the scalars could potentially effect drivability, but not power. i now have had the SCT PRP for about 3 years now. The main force behind SCT was a retired Ford engineer. i can't imagine him settling on a "handicapped" program, especially with all his inside information. as for Sniper, i have not used it yet, but i highly doubt any future competitors to SCT would release a software package that does not contain all the functions of the current packages available. IF any of the tuning packages could make more power than the others, why aren't they advertising it? that would be one hell of a selling point.

I'll even put my money where my mouth is. If any other companies wan to to lend me their software/tuners, i will use it and review it on my own car. if any can consistantly produce more power under the same conditions as my SCT package, i'll buy their kit.

now i'm not saying any kit is better than the others, jsut that you can achieve the same results. i think it's great that Sniper has joined the game cheaper than the rest. hopefully they can deliver the same, or better service. if they do, we all will benefit.

Sniper has nothing to do with EFI solutions

there is a little background info , as far as SCT I will not comment anything bad about them as they do offer a good product , the Sniper stuff does have access to ALL and I do mean ALL scalars , tables, functions etc.......I have seen SCT and Sniper programs up close , the programming behind the Special Forces kits is so advanced its in a different ball game from the SCT entirely ......
