ok, so i finally got the kb installed......it's freaking sweet.
first of all, kenne bell was missing a part for the 1.5 that i ordered so after a couple weeks they ended up just building me a 1.7 for the same price. the 1.7 isn't offered for our cars but is the same housing with bigger internals. so i got a better blower for the same cash, nice. before the install i had my car dyno'd with only bbk shorties, mac off road h, mac catback, pullies, and msd coil and wires. the car put down 255 hp and 285 torque and this was with the plugs already gapped for the kb at .035 and a little lean. i was suprised and happy with those numbers. so i get the kb, bbk 70mm throttle body, anderson power pipe, 80mm pro-m, 42#ers, mds 6a, and 255 fuel pump on and out the pullies back to stock and put down 321 hp and 350 torque with only 6#'s of boost and total timing at only 15 degrees, so needless to say, there is plenty of more power there but i'm keeping it super safe. a/f was in the 11's all the way across and just touched 12 at 5k. it was tuned on a dynojet w/ a diable chip. sorry, i don't have a copy of the graph to show or a video. as far as drivablitiy....awesome. the car acts stock except when you get on it and you know its there. heat is no problem with it for me. the 160 degree thermostat that kb gave me is in and the fan is programmed to turn on at 180 degrees and the car runs ice cold. i barely touch the N on my gauge and its been pretty hot in jersey since i got it on. i have small idle issue but i think it will be resolved shortly. long story short - kb = awesome. :nice: :SNSign:

thanks to everyone that helped with questions and stuff
sorry for the long post!

I really do like KB's for a street car :nice:

I've always felt the main focus on choosing a KB over a Vortech or other cent blowers is ... Its all about the low end torque :)

Those who favor cent blowers say its not desirable to them.

IMHO, if you judge performance with a horsepower stick ......

The KB will be on the short end of that stick :D

NOT saying the KB's are wrong, inferior, or anything negative :nono:

They are just more about torque ...... thats all :)

I don't think thats a bad thing ;)

Glad your happy with your combo SVT3183

Lots of people say KBs are great for the street but get beat too easily at the strip. When I had a KB 2200 on my 3700# vert I didn't lose too many races at the strip to other comparable blower cars. It went 11.23/123. Plus the motor was a stock 302 with aluminum heads and 140K miles on the block.

They are really fun!!

well, i spent a **** load on parts obviously, but i pretty much did it all at once, unlike most people. yes, i am happy with it and there is plenty more power available (i'm only running 6#) and room to grow with the parts i have (injectors, pump, ect. all can handle more power when i eventually upgrade the engine but for now it's staying how it is. i only have 25K on the car). i gave a ride to a guy with an '01 rousch and after getting on it he turned to me and simply said "i'm sold."

well then hummm i wonder if i shall try this out thanks for your input i appreciate this

KB blowers would be my choice. It's all about area under the curve, and KB gives it to you in spades. All else being the same, the car with the most average torque is gonna get down the track first and the centrifugal guys then have to try and catch you on the far end - makes em prone to mistakes. The thing about the torque of the KB, is you need to pay attention to the rear end/torque boxes and set it up for power/traction so you can get the power to the ground more efficiently.

You're probably very happy with your KB setup as-is but if you are running a stock lower intake on your car, there is quite a bit of low-mid power left on the table. Attached is a before and after graph from dyno sheets of a KB 1500 that had the lower ported (same principal applies to the 2200 too).....keep it in mind for when what you have gets to be................................not enough :D

Anxiety is a focus killer, mind starts going a million miles an hour in no clear direction. I've seen many small blocks do this to big blocks on the streets (chevys), and the big blocks owners get nerves on go from 1st to 3rd or 2nd to neutral. That second it takes for them to relize what happens and fix that mistake, money is already exchanging hands....

:nice: yep they are amazing blowers ...

I actually just pulled my polished 1.8L KB off and am selling it for $3000 with all the stuff I had with it, including the 42# injectors and the Holley SysteMax lower I used with it.

It was recenlty rebuilt by KB. It is not for me because my motor is not healthy enough for it; too much blow by with it and I will be needing the $$$ for a likely rebuild. That and my clutch was slipping from all the torque.

Send me an email at [email protected] if anyone wants it.

PS it has the 6#, 8# and 10# pulleys too.
