Hey all. My friend has a '65GT that's in need of something called a kickdown wire? I'm unsure of what this is, exactly. I know it's something for his tranny. Anyways, where's a good place to price one of these things out? His b-day is coming up soon, and I'm tired of hearing him whine about it.

its a cable that runs down from the throttle linkage on an auto-tranny. what it does is when you give it enough gas the cable gets tension on it - thus down shifting. same as when your driving a manual and you down shift and floor it.

OK... That would explain the violent "CLUNK" when slowing down. So, where does one purchase one of these bad boys?

that wouldn't be caused by a missing kick down linkage

According to my friend, the tranny shop seems to think so. Regardless, I just want a good place to get one. It's up to my friend to put it all together.
