IF I can get the "new" spring compressor to work, I should not have any spring tension when I lower the lower Arm, correct?I usually stand to the front of the car, put a wheel on the ground in front of me to protect my ankles, and use a 6-7 foot pole to pry the spring the rest of the way out. It usually pops, but never leaves the perch.

Yes, that is what I expect.. I do not expect to have to pop the spring out of the lowered A arm.....The tension will be held in the spring by the compressor gadget.

Scrolled back in the thread to see the OTC spring compressor you were talking about...and I have the exact same spring compressor. It's the only one I could find that worked on my 94 Cobra clone to remove the stock springs. It's a good tool.Yes, never a dull moment with these things..... Thanks

Every shop or garage should have a dead man
That way you chain it down tight, band the springs, lift the car up and pull the springs out
Yes, I returned them all except the OTC.... I got it on a deal from Zoro around $100 off and it will go on the shelf with the "other" rarely used tools.... Too bad none of you are my neighbors, LOL.. I have more stuff than the rental placeCan’t return any of the compressors?
I can't see any compression on the spring when I lift up on the lower a arm with the jack?? I expected to see some movement but it almost immediatly lifts the car off the jack stand?? Am I doing something wrong????That will work as well. You might find it hard to slip the bolts out though unless you find the right angle to relieve the tension.
I prefer unbolting the strut and letting the a-arm down with the Jack. It doesn’t shoot out, but just position yourself at the front of the car. You’ll likely need to prybar it out of the perch when it drops all the way down
