LaserSVT 2003 Cobra Progress thread

Glad u finally got her back Bill. When I first saw the wheels before they were on the car, I was unsure of them, but It looks great with those wheels on!!!

Sorry to hear about the bad luck, but it will get taken care of Im sure.... Come to think of it, I think the same thing happened to my buddy when he was using the Sniper tuner....

Yeah, I am getting dissapointed in them. The Lincoln sucks cause I cant write a tune for it cause the theft trigger is in the wrong spot. Willie writes me the tunes so its okay... kinda. But now it cant adjust the tire size to correct the speedo. Dont know why, been waiting for two weeks for an answer and nothing. Figured the car isnt that popular so sure there will be some bugs. But now with the Cobra..... I am ready to shoot this programmer.

The tune bugs me. The car started and idled great. The A/F meter read more lean then it normally does but would hold full rich when I let off the gas, again, it hasnt done that before. Then when I got on the road and tried to accelerate it would chug and buck and go to full lean again untill I let off the gas and it would hold at peaked out rich  It did behave as if it was getting too much fuel.

Well I wanted to run it this weekend but now there is no way thats gonna happen :(

I am so mad and upset I could ****ing scream my ****ing head off!!!

First off, the Diablo chip is gone! I have never pulled the computer before so I never saw it. The hold down tape was there but the piggy back chip wasnt so I have driven this car for almost a year running 13 psi on a stock tune :nonono: Cant believe it never blew up :bang:

Gets better!! So it takes me an hour to locate the right computer code for my sniper. I load a tune and if I put ANY load on the engine the A/F meter (narrow) goes full lean. No problem, I remap it with a richer tune and it runs like ****. A/F still reads full lean but I can smell the fuel and it just dies when you press the gas. Okay, mabey the A/F reading is an anomolly cause its a narrow band. I try again with it slightly leaned out and the sniper locks up halfway through the download.
It killed my cars computer!!!!! :bang: It says it cant write to it cause its not locked to the car then tells me I cant read the computer cause I have used up my tuning slots (need to buy more bullets) so the Sniper cant read the code off the computer cause it wiped the damn thing!!! I am so ****ing pissed off I cant ****ing see straight!
This Sniper has done nothing but piss me off!

IDK what I am gonna do. I emailed Willie to let him know whats up. I am sure they will fix it (under warrenty), at least I hope they do. If not, belive me, all of you will know. But if I gotta send them my computer then its gonna be at least another damn week.

Time to get drunk! :fuss:

:nonono:

Ok so before I get to deep into this, ill take it from the top.

A. Do NOT tune off of a wide or narrow band gauge! You ONLY tune WOT on a wideband gauge. Part throttle tuning should be done through the stock front 02 sensors only (Short term fuel trims).

B. Sniper stuff sounds like a joke (bulletts?). This should be tuning software, not some game with a ton of cliches. In any case...if it erased your OEM tune, you will need to take the EEC to ford and have them reflash a stock tune into it. Its around $70-80 if I recal correctly. (my car didnt come with a stock tune FYI...tuner flashed their tune onto the computer as the "stock tune")

C. SCT Xcal 2 with pro race package FTW!

D. Did I mention your luck seems to be getting worse? Is that even possible?

E. Oh and when you start tuning, remember to back the timing down to around 15*s until you get the A/F dialed in. Then kick it to 19*s and check A/F again and adjust slightly as needed (timing can effect A/F)....then kick it to 21-22*s and check A/F again and you should be all set.

F. GOOD LUCK BRO!

Battery voltage dropped while trying to flash it is what happened , put it on a charger when you flash it and it wont happen again , I emailed you Snipers number , they can give you a special bullet that will force the stock tune back to the car so you can start over again and get it going , send me the file you made first as well and I will look at it

Well as usual Sniper customer service is first class!!

Willie and Ted helped me out big time. I had my bettery tender on it and watched the voltage through the Pioneers voltage meter and it never dropped below 12.6 volts. For future tuning I will have my larger battery charger hooked to it
Ted @ Sniper gave me a code to force the tune back on the car and it started up just fine. Still couldnt drive it though as I still had the problem under load. Turns out that is my fault. Under MAF calibration I didnt put "Sniper 3000" and Ted says that happens all to often and the exact problem I am having is the result so i will hange that when I get home tonight and she should be all good :nice:
Since the car was running the stock tune with the mods I have I am sure the new tune will absolutly blow me away. Prolly see a 100hp increase over what it had since what it had was wrong.

Willie, after I load a working tune I will send it to you :nice: Thanks for the prompt help too :nice:

Tom, The Sniper software has more end user adjustability as well as a nice laptop interface to data log. Also it can program two cars out of the box and I can buy more "bulletts" to program more cars if I wish. The program has worked well on my Lincoln (with the speedo exception, not their fault) and has seen a decient performance increase.

datalog how much load you see with this MAF , along with MAF volts and let me know whats the peak load and volts you see

Thanks all!
She is up and running! Runs like a stallion. She pulls so nice and I am not done with the tune yet. It only goes to 18* @ WOT and is running super rich, rich enough to trigger a MIL for both banks. I just pulled out some fuel but I will let the pros do the rest of the adjustments. I just wanted it to run safley right now and with the timing where it is and as much fuel as its spraying my only concern would be fouling a plug

Oddly enough I couldnt get a MAF voltage reading on the data logging
