I'm going to try to start mny car today. Here is my combo, eagle 331 w/ je pistions afr 185 heads, ed c cam with a .605", .598" lift 112 lobe separation and 228, 234 duration, 75mm throttle body, 80mm pmas, 30 lb injectors, rpm2 intake ect......

My few questions are the firing order that I want is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 correct?

What should I set my fuel pressure to? Do this with the vacuum line disconnected then connect it?

THis is the stock tune right now and I know about the problems i'm going to have with my cam. I need to break the clutch in first then i'm going to get a dyno tune. Anything I need to know about running the stock tune, Is it safe?

And Lastly what should I set my timing to once this fires up?

Thanks everyone I'll post some pics later!

Firing order is correct. If you set the fuel pressure with the vacuum line disconnected you are setting max pressure, with it connected you're setting minimum pressure, keep that in mind. I would say minimum 50psi to start and no more than 10 degrees timing. Probably 8-9 degrees. These are fairly safe numbers which is what you want when you first fire the engine. As far as the eventual timing goes. It should be set during the dyno tune for optimum power AND safety in mind. Also, if you haven't planned on it, be sure to remove the distributor and prime the oil pump before cranking it over. This is muy importante!

Follow this link to break in the engine correctly. Do exactly what Barry R says in the thread!! http://bbs.hardcore50.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=12510&highlight=engine+break

Make sure you prime the oil pump!

Set the timing to 16* base for starters and 40psi fuel pressure vacuum off, then reconnect the hose.

Whats the rpm range on the cam card? How fast are youl ookign to go and what were your goals when you talked to Ed?

Yeah, I primed the pump a week ago or so and dropped a 1/4" socket down the dist hole:notnice: , I had to drop the oil pan, anyway I told ed that I wanted to try to get close to 400rwhp with low 12's high 11's daily driver and he sent me that cam. Thanks for the help

Remember, you do not have to break in a roller cam. Here's what I did and rebuilt my own motor. I advanced the initial timing so the car would start without multiple turns. I then set the timing. I let the car idle for about 20 minutes (to normal operating temperature which was hot as hell  ) while I inspected for leaks and any odd sounds and to allow the new parts to sort of get to know each other and remove any grunge, engine lube etc. I then changed the oil. I used straight 30w Valvoline oil. After the oil change, I took the car out did about 10 (can't remember exactly) 2nd an 3rd gear pulls to about 3000 rpm to 3500 rpm and let the car come down the rpm range on its own. This was to load and set the piston rings. Afer that I just drove around for a while just gloating. Then I took it back to the garage and changed the oil again (10w-40 Valvoline) - may not be necessary but I did it anyway. Some say baby the car for about 1k miles and others say drive it like you stole it. I did a little of both initially and then I just said to the hell with it and began driving it like I stole it.:D I drove the car for just over a year and less than a month ago I switch to synthetic after 2k miles (15w-50 summer 10w-30 winter). Oh yeah, this is not my DD so it took awhile to get the 2k miles on her. Just One Man's Opinion and who's car is still intack with no issues.
