Alright well I haven't updated yall on my car recently, so here it is. The long block is complete and ready to go in. Tomorrow I have a friend coming over to install the tranny/clutch and then it is getting dropped in and hooked up.
And the combo:
Lunati 51014 cam
Patriot 185cc heads
1.6 RRs
Explorer intake
Comp cams timing chain
Stock forged pistons that have been notched and re-ringed
New rod/main bearings
150 shot

So here are a few pics:

Shortblock all finished up

lol riggghhht. I have school at 7am till 2pm. I can't even get the tranny bolted up by myself with the engine swingin and stuff. I'll be sure to post vids when its done. PLENTY of them. Right now I am trying desperately to find a track to take it to this weekend. Oh well looks like I am hitting up the local spot and see if I can get some street action. I have to find some way to recuperate the cost of the build. If I try hard enough the other guy might not even see the solenoids!

You want to take a fresh build to the track......... wait a few weeks until you have enough miles on it and all the bugs worked out.

If you are trying to hide your nitrous I would paint all the braided lines and blue and red fittings black. Those are dead giveaways and stick out like a sore thumb.

+1 I have friends that do the same thing, and it typically doesn't end well due to either A.) a bad tune/no tune B.) being in a big hurry and messing something up during assembly C.) being in a big hurry, and not noticing something that is obviously wrong and needs correction.

Take your time, do it right, and make sure you have the thing running semi-properly before you go flogging on it. You should have at least changed the oil once after assembly before running it at any sort of motorsport related venue.

take your time bro. Check and double check...

I agree on puting 500 miles or so on it before to thrash on it to much.

Well its not running yet. We had trouble dropping the engine in. It went in all cockeyed and the way we held it with the cherry picker the bolts were hittin the firewall. SO we instead decided to prove how manly we were by having both sides of the chain on the front accessory bolts so the engine was upright basically.

THAT WAS A BITCH, but it worked better than the other method we were doing. We ended up taking a rope and tying it to the tranny and running it through the shifter hole and pulling while my brother lowered it on to the mounts.

All the wiring is done in the engine, I have to put the acc. back on, the rad, and wire up the tranny and we'll be done. I work 3-10 tom through thurs. so I might not get a chance to work on it till friday, but it'll be done.

lol school. About that, I already did my housing at Georgia State so all I have to do is pass, but somehow I am still makin As and Bs. But yeah it is kind of tough with 30 hrs of work.

I hope to put down at least 290/315 NA, I want 430hp/480tq on spray, but if I get 280/300 and 400hp/450tq I will be plenty happy! I am taking it to get a dyno tune by Balanced Performance who tuned my buddies supercharged RSX(285 whp) and my other buddies Mazda Speed 3 with a 2871R turbo(390 AWHP). It should be a good safe tune and still make good power. From what the builder told me after looking at my combo and heads he said it should put down 300, a lil more with a bigger intake and *should* run 11s with a tire on spray.

Overall any increase will be awesome I won't be pissed if it isn't a dyno queen. I just know it will be the fastest car at my school:D

Oh and I already have another filter and some castrol syntec. I put in some 5w30 conventional for now and left the old motorcraft filter on for now, but after a bout a week I will change it to the Castrol Syntec blend in 5w30 and the new FL1A, should be fine.

I think your "happy with" hp goals are pretty realistic. I don't agree with Scott that it should put down 300 with that intake because at this point its probably your biggest limiting factor after about 4500 rpms. I mean it could, but its not likely.

Did you advance the cam any or are you going to have the rev limiter tuned out? That would be another limiting factor of your current intake if you decided to spin the motor faster.

All in all whats matters is how fast you run at the track, but I am still gonna eat your lunch, so you better hurry up and get that motor broken in so you can come down here and race me lol.
