leaf springs

i have a 65 mustang that is hitting the tire and cutting the tire up on the side of it as i turn the body moves down and i know i need new leaf springs but should replace with stock or aftermarket? which brand should i buy? also do i need front spring too or will the front be fine.

Should be able to just do the rears. I did all coils and leafs when I did mine and after adding spring clamps onthe front it sits perfect for my liking. I used standard leafs.

I had a hard time getting the eye bolts out on each side - finally was able to "push" them out with a 8" C-clamp (put a deep well socket over the bolt head and the C-clamp pushes on the socket and the threaded end and forces the bolt out). Be prepared for some loud firecracker type pops as the bolt makes its way out.

It was a good experience - even though I had my car apart for over a week because I couldn't figure out how to get the bolts out....

what sized tires are you using? What kind of performance aspirations do you have? If I knew what you had in mind for the car, then I might be able to suggest specific parts.

tires are 285 and i have a 289 bored out to a 302 im looking for a little more performance but ill swap the engine later on so for now its mainly getting it runing i just bought it so i dont have much plans for a wile, i just want to be able to drive it without it scraping the tire, i also bought new shocks to install too, what brand leaf springs should i get? i want to someday put about 350hp into the car.

I have 5 leaf mid-eye 200 lb rate springs from American Pony. They ride very well. My tires are not as big as yours. You may have an issue with needing to roll the wheel wells too. The springs alone will not prevent the tires from hitting on a big bump.

Please give complete size of tire (e.g., 285/50-15, etc.). You may have as much of a tire problem as a spring problem.
