Im looking to sell the Road Race built 93 mustang and get a 96-98 Cobra.
Question now is how long do the DOHC 4.6 motors last? I am planning on driving it everyday and also having fun on the weekends. Also will be hitting up probably all 4 AutoX events at a local track and then also will be entering it at a local Road Race course 1-2 times a year.

What mileage before the timing chains need replaced?
Any other things?

Thanks

The timing chains are not replacement items.

The engines do not tolerate high RPM and oil starvation, so a baffled and sumped pan would be a good idea and billet oild pump gears would be good as well. Dry sump would be best for a true race application.

Daily driving will not stress the engine obviously, but be careful about the oiling. Shattered oil pump gears have kill 4.6 DOHCs like heart disease.
