Which is better? I buying some longtubes real soon and it seems like these are the top 2 brands. I pretty sure I'm going to get the mac's but I want to here some different opinions from you guys. On another note, it seems like the Dr. Gas X-pipe doesn't come with the tube for the smog pump. Do I need that? I don't have inspection until December so I'm safe until then. I've heard that x-pipes don't sound good on 5.0s... prove me wrong. Umm I probably have more questions but I can't think of anymore at this time.

I don't like the Mac stuff at all. I ordered a set of shorty headers from them several years ago. Pulled them out of the box and inspected them. After a quick look I put the right back in the box and shipped them back.

I have a set of BBK shorties on my Cobra now and they are very nice and built WAY better than the Mac ones I have seen.

It has been several years since I've seen a set of Mac headers and they may have improved in quality but if they are anything like they were I would stay as far away from them as possible.

I've had x-pipes on my cars for years and really like the sound. It makes a much different sound than anything else around. I really like them

havent seen longtubes for either brands in person so i have no experience there. you can get cats put on your dr gas x pipe if you get one. i highly recommend the dr gas pipe over the rest. they dont come with cats but you can get some and weld them in. their x pipe comes in 5 pieces and has to be welded anyways to fit your car. who ever told you x pipes dont sound good on 5.0s is an idiot imo. i love the sound of the dr gas xpipe on any mustang 5.0 or 4.6. if you put cats on your car than you will need that tube but you can make one if you cant get one or take it off your stock h-pipe.

The MAC headers have individual flanges and are rather prone to warping, a problem the BBK headers don't have.

After having a few mac products and buddies with mac products...I will never own another mac product.

If you buy the mac headers new you will have the greatest odds of a good fit. Buy them used and odds are the flanges are now warped.

When I redo my exh. I am going BBK long tubes...IIRC they have an oval primary shape rather than the square/rect. some have. my heads are ported to match an oval shape. That and some buddies have BBK stuff and it is NICE.

well ill throw in my experience too... i replaced the stock exhaust with brand new bbk shorties and bbk o/r h pipe about a month after i got the car and i constantly had exhaust leaks due to the HORRIBLE fitment. took them off and got a set of used mac lt's and o/r h pipe from moneypit on here and havent had a single issue since the day i bolted them on over 2 years ago. with that and the stories from other people about bbk... i would never buy anything from them again, and i wouldnt hesitate to buy mac again fwiw
