Decided to test fit this rim to see how it would do with the SN95 axles. I do not like the look of the 18x10 version (not a fan of too much barrel) so I’m sticking to 18x9 all around.

Practically Even with fender lip, so I need to go back to fox axles.

My concern is with the tire now hitting the tailpipes. It will be close

Nice work Mike. Why the axle swap? It seems most people (Atleast the ones I know) strive for that type of fitment.

Ps I love the wheels

I think with a 285 tire, it’s going to stick out past the fender lip. I have the car a tad high right now and wanted to lower it down a bit more

285 width is 11.2 inches. So add about 1” to each side for tire width and it’s close.

Installing some more parts I’ve had for a while

No idea if this is still available, but get em before they get as pricey as a hood insulation blanket

Had to replace some busted windshield trim. Got the DCMR trim from LMR. It’s a lot shinier, but my trim was 30+ years old and probably sunfaded and painted at some point.

No it’s not broken. It’s shaped different in that area. My trim had an E7 part number, the new stuff is made from an E9 mold. Looks like one of those subtle changes that nobody cares enough to know about.

Ah, makes sense. I guess in my head I didn’t account for the additional width of the tire.

I run a 285 wide tire and do not have a problem with them sticking out too far. The backspacing is for an sn95 i believe on the rim.

cant find what I am looking for, I need the part number for that fan control module your using. I only have a single fan to run, my current setup works ok but occasionally will melt the fuses.

There are a few other part numbers but they were all superceeded by the above. I've been snagging these off Ebay for $20 or so with wiring.

Yup. That’s the unit. I haven’t heard much good about the aftermarket ones in terms of longevity. Amazon and eBay reviews have been terrible. I really suggest getting an oem unit and one of the later modules.

This is one of the better modules

I’d see if you can get that $30 module for $20-25 and then just buy the plugs separate or go check out a boneyard for some mid2000s Mazda’s/Mitsubishi’

I would consider swapping in the fox axles because your not going to be happy with how far out the wheels sit.

I think you are right. They are in my cart on LMR. Just need to pull the trigger.

Considering I haven't bought the rest of the wheels yet....i have time.

Not sure if this was for all XT005 wheels but a friend ordered up two rear wheels from Cosmis to verify fitment a few months ago. This week he called them up to order the matching fronts to complete the set since fitment was good and he really liked the wheels. They said they are no longer making them. Now he did order the bronze color ones so hopefully it was just those that they stopped making. Eitherway I'd probably give them a call sooner than later to verify

Dammit. They are discontinued.

They had one more 18x9 in stock. I bought it. At least I’ll have a pair of those. Searching around for a pair of 18x9 or 18x10s.

Sent them an email and this was the result.

We are temporarily discontinuing the XT-005R and redesigning it. What we have on the website is all we have left of the current version. Once we release it again it will be a flow formed wheel that will be stronger and lighter. The estimated time for completion is sometime between July through December of 2022. It should look very similar to the current style. We plan to bring in better offsets to fit more vehicles. Please let us know if we can assist with anything else.

I have two rims now. I guess I wait and see if the new offsets will fit better.

Saw a video on YouTube of someone trimming the coil cover to clear the STB. I liked it.

(not my car)

So I picked up a repop from LMR and will give it a shot

Found and bought the last 18x9 I could. At least I have a matched pair now.

Need to wait until they release their “upgraded” version later this summer to see what offsets are available. I still prefer 9” wide vs 10”. Im just not a fan of flat dish style wheels.

Threw the other fender on. This one lines up really easy. Unfortunately the hood needs to shift pass side about 3/16” or so.

The MRT struts make hood alignment tricky. They push the hood up and out slightly at the hinge. So when you adjust the hood, you need to go lower and towards the cowl. Then put the struts on and see how off you are and tweak.

Nicer weather is coming. I need a nice Sat outside in the sun to adjust the fenders and hood.

Meanwhile getting the front bumper ready. Everything needs a wash and a buff big time.

First time this things been out of my attic in 2.5 years

Repairing the front bumper. Some of the studs pulled out when I removed it. Epoxying new studs back in.

Pulled off the original Ford emblem as now is the time to replace it. This one is starting to fade. Found a NOS unit…

However, really can’t decide if I want to install this. Need to think it over.
