Tried that. Still too long with the seat folded forward

If that portion was shortened 1.5” or so, it would fit perfectly

I’ve actually thought about using something like that to cover the inner hatch/ quarter panels……. Only because mine have a few cracks that it would easily cover up. Along with giving it a more custom look.

My 85 GT still has the original hood insulation, and it is definitely molded to fit the many contours of the underhood reinforcing. Also has cutouts (perforated punch-outs actually, I think) for the emissions label and the underhood light.

A flat panel would rub on all sorts of engine compartment components. Even the molded one rubbed on the air cleaner, hence Ford coming out with the TSB providing 2 additional u-shaped clips in the air cleaner area, in addition to the numerous "christmas tree" clips from the factory.

Mike (@Mustang5L5) was referencing my post on the ‘86 under hood pad. My pad isn’t totally flat, but certainly not molded like the one in the earlier picture. There is a cutout for a label. Of all the pictures I have of my ‘86 undergoing restoration, I could only find one that shows the hood underside.

I did buy the LMR sunroof seal, but not the one on the glass. I bought the one in the body for now.

My glass one is in decent shape, so I might reuse it. It’s the same way though, too much of a gap around the glass, and this one was installed 20 years ago.

I do have the part number for an OEM new one. NPD does sell it….for $150. Since this one is more visible….I’ll think about it.

Glued down the headliner material tonight. Was easy to do. A little 3M Super 77, let it tack up, and roll out the material. A couple touch ups on the backside and we will let it sit overnight to dry.

Tomorrow we will trim the edges and get it in the car.

Trimmed and awaiting install. Sunroof hole needs to be trimmed in car as it wraps around the “moat” with some adhesive and the seal holds it down.

The visible seam in the center is where the unsupported opening is. That will be cut out. Overall I’m happy with this material. Foam-backed vinyl was definitely the right way to go.

So it’s mostly in.

Kinda strange sitting in my car as a “hardtop”. I don’t like it.

Took some time to add foam to the contact points between various interior panels. Hope it helps

Cutting the sunroof hole. This sucks. You really just need patience because if you mess up here, you gotta start all over.

Really I’m just taking small cuts and using binder clips to stretch and hold it. The material is tight, but it’s workable. Trying to just go around and get out the wrinkles.

When I glue it, I think I’ll use the old body seal. Then when the glue cures I’ll pull it off and install the new seal gluing that down as well. That’s due tomorrow.

Couple small wrinkles in the corners to work out

I’d like to replace the cloth visors with the correct black vinyl visors, but finding those in good condition is tough. My visors are mint. Everything I’m finding…..is not.

I was wondering about the visors as I thought they were vinyl on sunroof cars but the visors in my 89 are cloth?

You know, I thought it was cloth headliner and cloth visors for hardtops, and vinyl headliner and visors for sunroof, ttops and convertibles.

But searching around online, I’m seeing 1993 cobras with sunroofs and cloth visors. So no idea now.

My ‘88 came originally with a red vinyl headliner and red vinyl visors. It also had the base model 4cyl style seats.

Welp, had an oops moment. Putting my rear carpet back in (oem) and the other stuff, I busted the mounting tab on my sunshade. It will latch in place, but if I try to pull the shade out it falls out. Now to see if I can find a sunshade for parts to Rob one end out of.

Still holds in place

Decided to remove the cargo net. I wasn’t using it and it gets in the way tbh…especially when strapping the sunroof down like above

My 89 sunroof had vinyl headliner with cloth visors...
Now has cloth headliner

I have a good red 90+ cargo shade that I bought thinking it was the 87-89(didn't measure, my fault)

So your car was red inside from the factory? How thick of foam backing did the vinyl you used come with?

When I did the headliner in my Saleen the first time, the foam was too thin. I could not stand the way it looked with everything installed. I had to redo it with thicker foam material. Live and learn.....
