Well, tahdah!

I'll unmask it tomorrow. I'm in particularly pleased with the driver's side especially after all of the crap I went through on it. As you can see, the overspray was minimal due to the paint gun I used:

Here's my workstation, I'm using one of my Sata mini jets to spray the primer, my little compressor did fine with the gun. I've had that particular gun for over twenty years now and it still works great, it's had LOTS of paint run through it. I used maybe six ounces of primer totally on this job. It is a two part primer, with a little reducer to thin it enough to spray well through the mini jet.

This is my masking machine that I've used for over twenty years now, it's a 3M machine, it cost about $350 back then, not sure what a new one would cost. It was orange and red, but I painted it purple and green when I bought it to mark it as mine.

So yay for me! Now I let the primer sit for a week or so to cure and shrink back as much as it can before I prep the bay for paint.
Next thing, tomorrow probably won't involve pictures, I'm going to take the wheels off the rear and put it back up on jack stands so I can begin to grind out all of the undercoating in the wheel tub area. Not sure how long this will take.
This weekend I will begin to block the body out with 800 grit in preparation for paint!

I'm not showing it off like a girlfriend or anything.....though.....it is kind of pretty.......

Seriously? I have the paper taped up for the ride back to the shop in my pick up bed, so it's not set up to dispense the paper in the photo.
If you really want to know, I'll do a show and tell. If you're pulling my chain, let me take this opportunity to give you a flying flipping bird.

K, when I'm using it at work today, I'll take a couple photos of what it does.
It's a simple device in the end, it holds three sizes of paper: 6", 12", 18".
Using a roll of 3/4" masking tape that attaches to the paper along the side of the roll, you pull the end of the paper to the desired length you want and tear it off. There you go, it already has an edge taped to adhere to what your masking up.
I'll send the pictures tonight. The red plastic device on the upper part of the machine folds the edge of 3/4" tape to varying widths. That will give you a soft paint edge to what you are masking. I'll show how that works as well.

All of us said it takes forever.

Remember, I still go to bed with a little baggie of bondo dust under my pillow waiting for the day that the body shop fairy will come and grant my wish.

Oh please BSF, make my wish come true,.. I've been a very good boy.

All I want is for the car's body work to be finished, and the car painted,....That isn't asking for much...

Maybe I could do a separate thread for the different areas involved.
Let me know if it sounds interesting to anyone, besides drinking beer (or whiskey), it's the one thing I'm pretty decent at.
