My set up followed by dumb questions

90 GT, 306, B303 cam, GTP heads, 97 Explorer intake, shorties, underdrive, cold air with 70 mm EGR, Throttle and MAF housing. Original MAF sensor. 24# injectors, stock ignition, 5 speed, 355 gears. Port work done on heads and lower intake. 185 T-stat. Electric fan.
The thing actually runs strong. Pulls easy to 6000 and feels like it would keep on pulling. Basically I built a high compression, ported 93 Cobra engine without the proper PCM and MAF. The MIL came on and spit out DTC's 34, 41 and 91. I dont have any fancy equipment to tell me what the AF is. So i pulled a couple spark plugs to get a look see. Obviously its running rich. I reinstalled the 19# injectors, changed the EGR and drove it home. The MIL came on again and gave me the same three codes. It idles and ran better with the 24#s in it. FP is at 39 psi vac disconnected 30 psi connected. Should I get a custom tune? I need to pass inspection. I installed the Smog system to pass the visual inspection, but with the GTP heads it is obviously inoperative. Can this set up be made to work well enough to pass the sniffer?

i dont think b303 cam is smog legal. i read that the gtp heads burn cleaner and more efficient due to more efficient port shape and the spark plug moved more toward the center of the combustion chamber so it might pass the sniffer, and with all the visual stuff "hooked up" but i know nothing about smog laws in texas. here in cali it will not

That should easily pass the smog test, when assembled with the right parts.

You can't run 24's with a stock meter sensor.
It's also never good to run a meter sensor in a housing it didn't come with.

Get yourself a PMAS meter (complete) calibrated for the 24's and put them back in.

The meter helps control the mixture, so you screw with that, and everything is a mess.

I found a 93 Cobra MAF I could buy on ebay, but someone told me it must be a meter that is calibrated for my PCM. But then again someone else told me to get a MAF from a 94/95 and install it with a custom tune. I was looking at some of the tweeker thread. But before I plunk down more $$$ on a tuning set up I want to make sure my components match. Whats a PMAS, and where do I get one?

Stay away from the cobra meter, it has to go with the cobra computer. And even then the setup serves little purpose other than complicating your life for no reason or power.

PMAS is professional mass air systems.
You buy a meter from them that is flowed and the sensor is calibrated specifically to the housing and injectors.

Most common to use in the 75mm bullet.
And now they have slimmed their line down and next up is the 95mm velocity.
Keep in mind there is no such thing as too big of a meter. Anything in front of the TB is a restriction.

I consider their meters to be the best for foxbody's. IMO that's a fact not an opinion, i've seen so many cars on the dyno.
