been looking for pics but cant find them. Theres a couple in the pics thread sticky but the wheels are black and difficult to really make out how they look on the car. Does anyone have pic of chrome or silver saleens on an s197?
I think they might look good. Saleens give off the illusion of being one size bigger than they are. Maybe a photochop would help too...
Thanks in advance.....

Don't do it! I bought a pair of 17x9 Saleen wheels for my 07 GT, but they were for the 94-04, which use a very different offset. Stuck out too far...

NO, THERE ARE 2 DIFF OFFSETS FOR THOSE WHEELS, THE ONES THAT FIT 99-04 (THE TOP PIC, STICKING OUT A LIL) AND THE 05+UP OFFSET. I WAS LOOKING AT THEM TOO, BUT THE 1ST PICTURE OF THEM STICKING OUT SEEMS TO ME TO BE A SET OF 99-04 WHEELS ON AN S197... SO I WAS CURIOUS IF THE FRONTS STICK OUT THE SAME AMOUNT, OR, IF I BUY 2 S197 OFFSETS FOR THE FRONT, AND 2 99-04 OFFSETS FOR THE BACK WOULD IT WORK, JUST WITH THE REARS STICKING OUT A LIL

LOL--i guess I should have been clearer--i wanted to see ones that were meant for s197 in an 18". Sorry for confusion. Trying to figure out what wheels I want. I keep leaning toward 20" razors but I hear they are quite heavy. I think a 19" wheel would be perfect but not as many to choose from or I'm just looking in wrong places.

Yeah, I actually bought my car with stock premium 19's and took them off for staggered 18's 9's in the front, 10's in the back... it all depends on what you really wanna do with your car, if you look at almost any S197 that is pulling 1g or more, aka a partial track car, they arent typically using 19" or 20" wheels, they are using a smaller 18 or 17" wheel, with a super aggressive tire, real handling comes with the suspension setup, dialing it in and your choice of tire!! Do you want the wheels more for looks, or do you drag race the car alot, or like the g's for trackday/auto cross??

ps - i burn mine off by the time each oil change comes up, so the 18" tires were also cheaper for the back for me...lol

More for looks really--so maybe I shouldn't worry so much about the weight-but i dont want them to hurt performance more than necessary. I like the gunmetal razors but seems like from pics they look way better on white cars than black. I don't drag race or autocross so thats not really an issue. Any suggestions?

THE RAZORS ARE NICE, BUT I'M PRETTY SURE THEY ARENT STAGGERED. THE DOWNFALLS W/ A 20" WHEEL (WHICH I THINK U SAID U WERE LOOKING AT) OR EVEN A 19" WHEEL IS THIS - NO MATTER WHAT, THE LESS SIDEWALL YOU Go, the harder the ride, and the more wear on suspension parts, this is a fact, but a trade off worth it to many people for the look, and dont get me wrong, my wheels is 20" would look better! Just make sure whatever you buy you take waay more than style into consideration, also, do u have stock suspension, stock height, etc etc, because if you are lowered especially, and wanna go for much bigger wheels, you will NEED to upgrade you rear suspension, especially the panhard bar w/ and adjustable unit, because if you corner hard and hit a bump in the road, you can have the wheels hit 1/4 panels or inner wells, trust me, we've built many s197s, and the chassis is great, but the rear end does have a lotta play, and lowering it makes it more "off center"... tell me about your setup now, and what u plan on doing for the future!

Visually I'm 100% with you on choosing the 19s as a size. They give the best wheel/tire look out there. You can still find some Saleen 5 spoke chrome 19s out there for cheap (around 400 bucks) the problem with those is tire availability. I have 19in Volk Racing Wheels on the 350Z and it is a BIOTCH to find tires for those. So far I only have two choices the Bf Goodrich flame pattern KDWs, Nitto 555s and Khumo Ecsta SPT (for the fronts only).

Alternatively they also have the NEW saleen style replica 20in 5 spokes which look awesome if you ask me and in theory should be lighter then the older Saleen 20in multi spoke wheel.

YEAH.... FINDING TIRES FOR 18'S AND 20'S IS EASY, BUT 19'S YOU REALLY GET FU*KED, JUST LIKE YOU SAID... THE STOCK 245 45 19'S THAT WERE ON MY CAR LOOKED HORRIBLE, A 45 SERIES 19? THAT LIKE A STATION WAGON/SMALL SUV SIZE! WTF?? BUT, IF YOU CAN FIND THE WHEELS U WANT, AND DONT MIND THE EXPENSIVE - NOT-THAT-MANY-CHOICES 19" TIRES, IT WILL DEF LOOK AWESOME, ANYTHINGS BETTER THEN THE STOCK 17'S!! ALSO - I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND LOOKING INTO THE VREDESTEIN SESSENTA TIRES, I HAVE THEM ON MY CAR AFTER READING EVERYONES REVIEWS, AND THEY ARE AWESOME, HAVENT HAD THE FRONT COME AWAY FROM ME YET, AND I DRIVE THE CAR HARD TO SAY THE LEAST. THEY BEATEN OUT ALL THE OTHER TIRE MANUFACTURERS IN INDEPENDENT TESTING IN EUROPE, AND THEY ARE NOW IN THE US, AND FOR THE MONEY, YOU CANNOT GO WRONG!! AND, THEY LOOK AWESOME TOO!!

19's, limited tire choices and expensive.
20's, more choices, not cheap, harsher ride, heavier and rotating mass will cause a loss in power.
18's, better ride, performance, options, and price.

Anything that cause me to loose power is a bad thing IMO. Research your problem then you will make the best informed decision. Good luck.

From what ive gathered so far, i should avoid 19's. What are the opinions on razors? And what suspension upgrades should i look at from stock. Safety is a big concern for me, i dont even like driving on wet roads.
