Alright, finally went to the Dyno, I put down 438rwhp... But here's the kicker, they told me that it was running out of fuel! I'm running 42lb injectors, and a walbro255, and a t-rex. Should 42lbers not be enough. he also said my lmaf is pegged. So, I was thinking about selling the 42lbers and lmaf, and geting the SCT MAF and 60lb injectors.

Tell me what you guys think about the combo. He told me I had way more potential, if I got more fuel to it.

I don't think your fuel system should be maxed out with that setup. I would think that should be plenty of fuel for that amount of power.

congrats on the #'s

Hi
Fuel systems are not created equal. My son ran out with a similar system (95 331 vortech)and used an FMU to get 490 or so and I went to 536 with a similar system, no FMU. (94 347 vortech) Same tuner.

I would say that the fuel systems are equal, it's just the engines, power characteristics, and boost numbers are different.

I was told the same thing by one tuner. Then I went to Fun Ford for a second opinion. The second tuner had no problem. As for maxing a MAF sensor out, I don't see it, that is the tuner. I ran stock then Pro-m no problems with ethier one.

Sorry ...... not enough coffee yet

Here is the one thing I do know for sure

Over about the past year
I've seen more and more peeps move to larger size inj's

I'm in contact with many self tuners who have typical NA street combos kinda like mine. More and more of them are moving away from their 24's and to 30's.

Now ... Lets set aside that NA fact for now and talk forced induction

I could say the same about seeing more and more forced combos move away from 42's to larger inj's.

While we are at it ... mafs being pegged is seen more and more these days as well.

The rest of my post is the thoughts and opinions part

It is my belief these things are being seen simply because we are becoming more knowledgeable

Not all that long ago, if you were forced
intank & pusher pump, 42's, a ProM 77 or 80,
and you were good to go

Peeps have moved away from fmu's and to custom tunes which has made hard data available to more and more.

I've said it before but IMHO, I believe it would be beneficial in this discussion to repeat it again

Hard Data is NOT opiniated or biased

The hard data that is being seen by more and more peeps has caused them to NOT do things with their combo because:
other peeps did it that way in the past
some guy on the web said
some mag article said
etc

Now a days, more and more peeps have combos that don't have oem iron heads OR small port street intakes OR any of the typical street parts that can greatly cut down on air flow.

More Flow ... More Fuel ... Larger Inj's ... Larger Mafs

Hot rod parts and how to tune them has evolved

To me, it looks like the knowledge of the peeps who use them is finally starting to elvolve as well

this make sense to anybody

One reason everyone is changing is because everyone is on the 4.6L. If you have noticed everything being put on the cobras is now being put on 5.0L because 5.0's are dead(no new product minus bbk intake). I have the Pro-M 75mm cal for 30's and have no problem with maxing it out and pushing alot more power. Grady if you look at the way the tweecer changes the MAF Transfer, some tuners do not do this they use a corection factor which causes the MAF sensor to max out.

I very well could be misunderstanding what you are trying to say and if so, please set me straight here

BUT

Pegging a maf has nothing to do with the guy that tunes the car.

You peg a maf because the amount of air flow the motor draws through it exceeds the 5.0 volt range of air flow the maf was designed for.

A little example I'm familiar with

My sig combo pegged the stock maf with 30lb inj's.

Even though I had access to the pcm, there still was nothing I could do to make the stock maf work correctly because air flow through it was more than it could accurately report to the pcm.

Makes a lot of sense to me

Going back to my post. Most setup are not the same... maybe in some small way... Like comparing my son 331 to my 347 not only cu. differences but compression ratio's. My belief is that there are a lot of combo's out there that sound the same but have differences.. ported, exhaust, different intakes, gasket matching etc.

Haulbaz ... I would listen to the tuner. Did he suggest 60's and a SCT maf, if so he sees a lot of cars, I would believe him. The big thing is that you get a safe tune and have fun

SO DO YOU THINK THAT COULD CAUSE THE PARTIAL THROTTLE PROBLEM?

Partial throttle problem.. you mean the pegged MAF?

It should fix the problem... If you are doing the work, which I assume you are, you will need your tuner to put a tune on the chip for the SCT because it won't run without it.
As I asked what does your tuner say?? An SCT fixed mine and is very adjustable by software. It also takes a different connector you have to solder in.

I would not think you are running outta fuel with the 42's? I'm putting out 465 and still have good fuel but my lmaf is pegging as well. Go with the SCT!

you are not running out of fuel with 42s

do you have a 255 hi pressure?, you should

i would definitely go to a new tuner. he doesnt know what he is doing

and to whomever said they are leaving 5.0s behind, doesnt keep up with things very well

only reason you might see more things come up for the 4.6 is that the 4.6 has 4 production aftermarket manifolds while the 5.0 has over 20 already.

4.6 head afermarket? none unless you want to get a ford head. There are many porters, yes

5.0 head, whats new? trick flow has recently released CNC ported trick flows, the new edelbrocks are pretty recent as well

I dont get where you are coming from with your statement
