New Engine / Transmission + More Goodies! :)

the plugs are trash they were just in there so that there wasnt an open hole... he had it wrapped up really tight but wanted to make sure it didnt get wet or anything while it was stored... There is no oil in the engine it was drained... and it was never boosted on these heads or intaernals...

How long has it sat with no oil in it? You take a head off yet? How can you be so sure it was never boosted? After all the confusion with wether it was a 302, 306 or 308?!?!?! I was once like that as well, but after being burned in the past i have come to reallize that not everyone is as nice and helpufil as we might think!!!

Beware pedestal mount TW's, they were notorious for valve guide issues if the valve train wasn't setup PERFECTLY. I don't know if this was a problem after the 2nd gen. head as mentioned above or not, but from what I remember from way back I'd never run a pedestal mount TW head on ym car, even if they were free. Maybe I'm mis-informed, but I'd do as much homework on these heads as you can before you actually run them.

+1 honestly I would consider braking the motor down while it's out. Drop the pan, remove the heads just inspect it.

im having my friend chris do it this week.... he knows his **** i dont trust my self

And paul any more info would be great if you can find any... these heads aparently are pretty rare... but apareantly flow great... but you are getting me in over my head... my knowledge of cars stops here... are you saying i should sell these heads off or not use this engine....???? did i get a ****ty deal??? i have been reading decent things about the heads but this is basically all the info i have on the TFS/KPI heads

i did find that with old trick flow heads that sometimes you needed to use a slightly longer push rod or something like that but im not sure if it pertains to these heads...

for some reason i feel as though i just got beat on $1200

Keep your head in the game. It's a lot of money, but you never know, it could just be some minor things. We aren't trying to freak you out, just trying to warn you to do an inspection and get in there and tear the motor down. You are going to have to learn anyways... after all, you bought a Mustang. Look at it this way, you have that motor to toy with while still having your car on the road! Just jump in and tinker with it see what feels comfortable and go from there. You can at least take the oil pan off and see what the pistons, rods and crank looks like. Just take your time, it's not a race, rather a hobby!!! Good luck, don't get discurraged, we all have been there done that. Let us know what you find out!!!

wow...that engine looks old... i hope when you crack it open whats inside is what he says it is....and the spark plug thing i wouldn't believe that engine looks to be run to death and i guarantee its been boosted..was the turbo or charger used he was selling??? why was it stored with no oil in it thats terrible on parts...did you ask he why he didn't drop the motor in the roller and sell it all together....not to be mean or nothing but i think you really jumped the gun on buying this thing....im hoping for your sake it will fire up

the seller seems to be full of lies...i though you said it was put together in florida but then later you found it was assembled in new jersery or something.... how is he so sure on the miliage of the internals and what it is if he couldn't tell you what it was ....308..306...302???

and if he went all out and bought the heads for 1000 bucks why did he cheap out on the rockers?

i would put oil in that thing imediatly and try turning the crank and seeing where your at...if it spins drop the pan and look at everything if it wont turn over take it back and give him his headache back

the block was honed in FL it was all assembled and re gasketed in NJ... It was never boosted on these heads and internals... the orgional 94 internals from the 94 block quit on him under boost.... so he honed the block got new internals and bought new heads... the turbo kit he had for sale was a new one he was going to use on the engine... im having my friend chris turn the crank and stuff tonight and make sure everything is free... and he said he will pull a head sometime this week... the guy said the reason he was selling was that he wanted to get out of mustangs... he has had 6 and he was loading up a trailer to go pick up a 300zx that day

thanks for the info... if chris doesent do it today ill do it while im home this weekend... im stuck at college or else id be doing all this already... lol... but would it be wrong of me if i find out it wasnt a fresh hone with 0 miles on it to go back and demand my $$$ back...

No if the bearings are worn (copper showing) and or you plastigauge the main caps and the are out of spec the "rebuild" never took place. If you have anything in writting stating that the engine is rebuilt get a written document from a shop proving it never happend and take the person to small claims court. Or tell them you are taking steps towards small claims court and let the card fall where they may.

I have good news... i looked on corral... and found info on the guy... he posted this :

Hey everyone, im replacing my engine very soon and i am having trouble deciding if its best to install the turbo kit at the time of dropping in the new engine or wait till the engine is broken in right. if i installed the kit i would leave the stock injectors and maf in place and just stay out of the booost untill i installed the injectors and maf and had it tuned. i would save alot of time installing it all at once i would think but want to make sure it would be safe enough to do. any imput welcome guys. thanks in advance!

at this time it had gt40ps though... and this was posted a month or so ago... well atleast i can be sure its pretty fresh

But then i found this....

This engine has about 25k on it... its a stock bottom end with trick flow heads with crane roller rockers, and an E303 cam ( so she is very streetable) and a GT40 lower intake and Cobra upper with a 65mm BBK TB....
never dynoed, it was street tuned and it put down 300-350 never boosted or juiced...

The engine is out of my car for about 3 weeks
it ran strong at the time of pulling it...
i regasketed the upper + lower intake + TB

will have pix this weekend

I AM TAKING OFFERS ON THIS SETUP ( THE FIRST REASONABLE OFFER WILL BE TAKEN)

I LIVE IN CENTRAL NJ

Which someone else posted and he bumped and it looks familiar....

And they were asking $1800 for it....
the seller of the engine i bought was asking $1800....

i think its the same person with 2 different names.... location is central jersey as well...
