My friend and I just finished puttin a Lincoln 5.0 HO shortblock in his 95 GT 5 spd. It starts but there is a Huge miss and sounds like the firing order is off or it's running on a couple cylinders but it is the HO firing order. I unplugged the maf/act harness and it ran a little better. Once it gets up to the higher rpms the missing go away and she Screamms till the rpms drop back down again. We also found there is no slop in the dizzy rotor up and down or clockwise and counterclockwise. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks, Sean

Sean, make it easy on yourself. Run a cylinder balance test. You do it as part of the code-retrieval process (after you pull KOER codes). The puter will detect exactly which cylinders are missing so your diagnostics go quicker and easier.

And pulling the codes as a precursor can only help - you might have a soft code stored (be aware that running without the MAF connected can put you in FMEM and produce a code, though said code was induced by you disconnecting a component).

Good luck.

Listen to Hissin. I had the same issue on my Expy. Connected my scanner and immediately knew it was cyclinder #3 without chasing my tail. Knowing is half the battle.

You may get many suggestion here that may have you chasing your tail. Just do as Hissin said. Then come back and ask how to remedy the problem.

The first thing I tried doing was pulling the codes with the scanner I scan my car with (the blinking/beeping kind) and the codes won't pull, the light and beep constantly stays on. I've had my car and quite a few other vehicles do this and I have no clue why it does this. Mine has only done it a few times but works most of the times. The motor came out of a lincoln HO with 1,100 miles on it so it should have good compression and the injectors and etc. came off his old motor which ran. But I'm still not ruling any of these out. I tried hooking up my Tweecer R/t with the CBAZA (T4MOecu) strategy and it wasn't logging right. Mine has the issue where it gets crazy values like 12,000 rpms, 5,000 maf volts etc and I can't stand it because I can't proper use the eec analyzer but anyways. I want to say it's a huge miss somewhere but idk. Throw me some more ideas as I'm running out of mine. Thanks, Sean

Check to make sure the plug wires are routed properly, and that they're all snapped on completely. Other than that, I had a cracked plug after putting mine together last spring, and it had very similar symptoms to what you say. I only found it by using my last resort, waiting until it was dark out and letting it idle. I found a neat little spark show around the number 5 plug, and that was the whole problem. Good luck!

Sean, a bad code reader can allow a solid reader light to illuminate. It happens when the STI port accidentally sees 12 volts.

With your issues, I'd wonder if you dont have a bad ground (it can cause bad sensor-signal readings and issues with retrieving codes). Have you tried going old-school with pulling codes (using a test light)? If a reader doesnt work, this is the route to go. Some older readers cant run a CBT anyhow (you have to pull codes manually to do it. The LCD version of the readers does allow you to do a CBT however).

If your issue is real bad, you could just pull plug wires one at a time. I HATE doing this because I feel it's real hard on plug wires (as you yank the wire off, they struggle to find a conduit to discharge. Sometimes they jump spark from in front of the boots, etc as you pull them. If this happens, I lose trust in said wires.
But it does work to narrow down what cylinder(s) is misfiring. It's real crude compared to a CBT (which can test a given miss with 3 different sets of criteria).

Good luck.

I forgot, when I saw your thread title (New Motor is Missing) originally, I thought you were a victim of something like this picture.

Just out of curiosity what are you running for a PCM and wiring harness? The 95 or the lincolns?

haha i love the banshee on the roof, my friend put a raced out Yamaha 450 4 stroke dirtbike the same way on his ford escort, his roof has a huge dent in it from the front wheel after that.

And he is using the 95 stang's computer and harness. (T4M0)

I forgot to update we found the problem it was a upper to lower intake leak. We had put on the foxbody style valve covers which hit the egr valve so we ground it down but it wasn't enough. The stock ugly stamped valve covers from the sn95 were put back on to make it simple and from he says it runs good.
