although it is written on the tire... the stock tire height is 55mm so getting the 275/40/17's = 15mm less height... I got two 95 cobra R rims and 275/40/17 BFG DR2's and ran 4-5 mph slower on the 1320 due to the diameter of the tire being less than stock...

shorter tire=more gear ratio, meaning loss of mph in1/4 mile. but et should improve if it hooks. mph don't win races, et does...but if you are going to run them everyday, don't go with a 275/40 they are too short and will leave a terrible gap in the fender well...

the stock tires already leave a gap which doesnt bother me at all.

I'm not really looking to change the rims on my car nor spend all that money to change 4 rims and/or tires.

I drive close to work and track. So i was going to put some Drag radials on my stock rims and improve my e.t at the track

how much of a difference will it make in looks over the stock tires? Plus is their any bigger tire that can be fit on the stock wheel? maybe a different brand?

I would be willing to scarfice some MPH to get a better E.T.

Ussually that happens with hook. Like my old fox body going from street tires to slicks. 100mph 13.8 to 13.4 @ 95

Sorry guy, that's not how tire sizing works. The second number represents the sidewall height as a % of the section width (the 1st number). So a 275/40 has a sidewall height that is 40% of 275=110mm. The stock tire of 235/55 would have a sidewall height of 129.25mm. So your tires are actually 19.25mm shorter. If the DRs are available in a 275/45, that would be the way to go if you are looking to keep it close to stock as far as sidewall height goes.

i dont think they have a 275/45 for some odd reason

i see these

P245/45R-17 95V

275/40R-17 93 B

315/35R-17 102V

i doubt the 315/35R-17 would fit on the stock rim but would it?

those tires have nearly identical heights. google for a tire calculator, or use this one....

http://www.dakota-truck.net/TIRECALC/tirecalc.html

tire calculators can be very useful when shopping for tires. they can answer your questions faster than we can.

their is no brand of tire that is a drag radial that can fit on a stock rim that wont be shorter than the stock tire?

I need some advice. i really just wanted a cheap way to get a set of street/strips on my car and get some good hook and i hear a lot of people not liking the 275 nitto on a stock rim w/ the stock front tires, making it uneven, taller tires in the front compared to back, didnt want to spend all the money on wheels + tire combo.

Hey guys what about this tire on a stock rim?

http://www.mandhtires.com/store.php?crn=70&rn=294&action=show_detail
275/50R17

# Tread Width: 8.8"
# Section Width: 10.7"
# Diameter: 28.0"
# Circumference: 88.0"
# Rim Size: 9.0"
# Code: ROD-06R

over the Nitto 275/40 ?

Maybe then the tire wont be smaller than my front stock tires!?!?
