What is the real world cost of a 331 stroker? What do I absolutely have to change? Can I get by with a Cobra intake until, I can afford a better one? What about heads, I have a ported set of 351's sitting on the shelf? I have to rebuild this winter and I might as well stroke if I can afford it. Can I just add pieces as money becomes available. My car is a 95' vert 5.0, T-5, exhaust,gears,K&N that I drive everyday during the summer.

as far as h/c/i, a cobra intake will be enough. the 351 heads probably enough. granted your not utilizing all the power you could be but it will work. i would suggest 24# injectors, and at least a 190lph fuel pump. mine cost me about 5k when it was all said and done.

Mine about 5k also. But I have afr heads w/ upgraded springs and a 7qt pan and aluminum balancer and alum. flywheel so if you went cheaper on these items you could save a lot. Oh and I also had to get a new block as I put a hole in the old one.

I've spent about 6k on my 331 build up...but thats with AFR heads with upgraded springs, trick flow track heat manifold, tfs stage 2 cam, balancer, timing cover, water pump, oil pump, new lifters, new pushrods, King cobra clutch kit, aluminum driveshaft, lightning mass air meter, 24lb injectors, gaskets, and almost all fasteners since my old engine is still on the car, it will be going in in 2 weeks, plus save like 400.00 for a tune when your done...technicaly, you could keep all stock stuff on a 331 but you would not get full potential out of it, a cobra intake will work but when you switch you WILL see gains in HP same with heads and all the other stuff.

thats about 4k. should be at least 300-350HP too. maybe even more depending on the compression ration of your shortblock. that's a shortblock from M&R engines. it's probably a seasoned rolled. but roller blocks are good up to 450-500. at least a consistent 450 with no detonation.
