You need to checkout Vice Grip Garage's "Shine Juice".

There are a couple different flavors and you can make that pretty much disappear (from 10 feet) until you're ready to paint it.

Check it out and holler at me if you have trouble finding links.

I have thought about the shine juice many times before. He actually gave instructions how to make it in one of his videos years ago. I am sure it has since been deleted since he sells the stuff on his website now.

Thanks for the progress thread label. Plenum should be back this evening. Hopefully it turns out as cool as it was in my head. I'll start with a picture and description of plugging EGR hole in lower intake.......

Found a thread on here from 2007 I believe it was. The guy who posted hasn't been active since 2019, but he said he shaved a bolt head down and tapped it into the EGR hole. I did the same and it worked out pretty good. Easier than I thought. Used a socket to tap the bolt down extra ¼" and globbed JB Weld on top of it. I suppose I will know how well it worked on startup which should be soon(ly).

What's the reason behind plugging the EGR hole in the lower?

EGR was deleted before I bought the car. Was putting my upper back on recently and the corner cracked. Bought a new upper and it's non egr. It did come with a lower, but I had just reinstalled my lower and didn't want to break that seal again. There is another thread of mine called cracked plenum that has pictures of the crack.

I think the question was asked because there exists: Non EGR gaskets with no hole.

Yea. Couldn't find one locally. I also thought that with the gap in the mating surface on the non egr plenum it would eventually cause a leak. Maybe, maybe not, but I'll sleep better with the hole plugged I guess.

Do I need to block off that hole too? I also deleted my EGR and I have the heads plugged and EGR valve removed and blocked off but I left that hole in the intake open.

Got my plenum back. Looks pretty good. I'm happy with it. Gotta plug some vacuum lines and swap throttle body over and it should be ready to go on the car.

Anyone have any insight on the seams and circles on the gray intake? My old green one is so much cleaner. It doesn't have, what look like, manufacturing seams on it. Green is egr, gray is the split bottom non egr.

Parting lines from the where the casting mold separates. My intake also has those same exact marks and it is an EGR intake from a '96 Explorer. Maybe someone cleaned up the green one with a die grinder or something at some point? They did a really good job if that is the case though.

Looks like the green one is also missing that pedestal casted into the top of the gray one.

I thought the same thing about it being cleaned up with a grinder. I'm regretting not doing that before I painted the gray one. Hindsights always 20/20 I guess.

I need the get rid of the Ronald McDonald cap and wires. Started the car. Got a nasty nasty tap. I think I have a bad lifter. Guess it's getting torn right back down. I just wanna go for a ride. Guess it ain't in the cards right now.

Any recommendations for oem replacement lifters? Replaced the collapsed lifter on wife's tahoe with sealed power lifter, twice. Not sure if I should chock that up to AFM or the aftermarket lifters. I realize the AFM lifters are completely different than what's in my 302. Wife can get sealed power for pretty decent price, but if anyone has any better recommendations I'm all ears....err....eyes I guess.

Another satisfied customer with the FRPP R302H lifters. Shift at 6800 and zero float.
