Official 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Thread

To bad the race got cut short was pretty good for the most part except for JR's bone head move of talking out a bunch of good drivers just b/c hes pissed off b/c he does not know how to park his car in the pit. Edwards had a top 5 car up to that point but being 18th overall is not anything he cant recover from soon. Good job for Stewart

Woot! Hopefully this is how Matt Kenseth starts off the run for championship #2. Jr. pulled a boneheaded move. It was a lot more obvious than what Leffler did yesterday. I guess your last name plays a role in how you are treated...

That's part of my issues I have with Nascar, it shows favoritism really really badly too. If anyone else did that they would have been penalized on the track right then but ohhhhhh nooooo not JR not Nascars Love Child, screw him.

Jr. did make a couple bone head moves yesterday, no doubt about it. Missing his pit while running in 3rd and ending up at the end of the pack was mistake #1. He shows enough fortitude to march his ass from the back all the way up into 5th when he pulls bone head move #2 by placing 1 inch of his tire on the white pit box line. It was a proper call by the officials, but I agree putting him a lap down for that minor infraction was excessive.

As for the contact with Vickers I don't believe it was intentional at all. Was Vickers wrong for bumping Dale and forcing him below the yellow line when Dale had such an obvious run on him? Yes, because they were both racing for the lucky dog, but Earnhardt stated he was unaware of that fact. He was bewildered as to why Brian had blocked him. It was pretty evident from the post rain delay interview.

I also believe in Earnhardt's defense he was only trying to quickly correct his car and dive back in behind Vickers so as to not lose the draft. He cut it a little close and clipped Vickers. Was it intentional? No. Wasn't his brightest moment either. Having been in 3rd only to go to the end of the longest line, then work back up to 5th only to have a minor infraction put you a lap down tends to make one race just a little harder. Can't blame a man for that.

For every action, there's an opposite and equal reaction. "E" had a full head of steam coming in under Brian and Brian decided to attempt a block. Well WTF was Jr. supposed to do? Slam on his brakes and cause an accordion style pile up behind him? He only had one place to go and that was down low. He just cut back up too fast and was still carrying more speed than Brian.

Little "E" passed almost the entire field twice last night. Give credit where credit is due.

Neither were any of the wrecks Sr, caused.

Yep, Jr. sure looked like Daddy.

Jr. didn't rear end Vickers, Jr. did the PITT Maneuver.

I could have imagined Jr. just screwing up if contact had been by inches but there was full fender contact.

Or there is the possibility Jr. is just a crappy driver.

Maybe...but these guys do this stuff for a living. Crap happens pretty quick at 190+ MPH. Did Jr. make a mistake? Yup. Was it intentional? No, I don't think so. I find it hard to believe at that speed he actually had time to do anything intentional besides react.

But the almighty Jr called Jimmie Johnson, and I quote, an "idiot" after he had the same sort of racing incident at Dega. It's a double standard.

So, keep this "incident" in mind the next time ANY other driver (JJ, Gordon, Stewie, Roushketers etc) accidentally bump someone at the plate tracks... it was just one of those things.

Going by Jr logic.... he himself is an idiot

Yup.

I usually do. Thing is there's not usually a fine line between a bonehead move and a deliberate and/or intentional act to take out a competitor.

I agree. Hindsight is always 20/20 :nice:

Well, Y'a know .....

Last year when Edwards took out Kensith and (Reagan??) I though Carl needed his head cracked open and looked inside. WTF??

I think that bad action cost Edwards the Championship.

I think Jr got out of line and put behind the yellow lines then got impatient (panic) to get back in line before being shipped to the back of the field. What I didn't see was if the car behind Jr was moving up to close the hole. If the hole stayed then Jr only needed to drift back into it, if the hole was closing what can be said, Jr took a page from Daddies book and it's better to wreck someone than to lose a position.

Let's just hope the brain farts are done for the year ............. :rlaugh:

My friend will be driving Kyle Busch around the track during driver introductions. He will be in a 1969 Corvette Stingray with a 502, red with black stripes. It's not his. The guy that was going to do it had something come up and told my friend to go. He's in a Corvette club, Pomona Valley Corvette Association, and they some how set it up to be the drivers and supply the cars for it. They didn't know who was going to drive which driver around until about 30 minutes ago.

So who's gonna win it? Kyle Busch seems to be on a roll this weekend winning both of the other races already.

Rain delay...uggg..

1 more lap...oh wait more rain...please dont leave we are starting soon...oh crap more rain..

At least NHRA Drag Racing is on in 10 mins. I'll watch more of that anyway
