Son wants to purchase another 89 GT.

I'd say this car is a 85%r. The interior looks decent front seats are stained.
Car is a repaint/color change. Now sporting a purple shade over what used to be red. Engine bay, still red jambs and hatch opening purple. Car has seen a few bumps though,..front and rear bumper cover, have strees breaks where they saw a curb. The driver door window frame has sustained a pretty good whack, and is dented.
Engine is 306, w/ GT 40 heads, e cam, typical bolt ons.
Claims trans is a tremec, but doesn't know if its anything better than a 3550.
tires look good, mounted on 17 cobra rims, still all 4 lug.
engine supposed to have 95k orig miles. interior looks like that's all it's seen.

He wants 5500.

5500 in my area gets you a nice stock fox. Which I really prefer over some hillbillys mystery mods. And body damage is something that turns me off real quick. I know you have capabilities that I do not but for $6k after taxes I shouldn't have to replace a door or paint door jambs

To me that's a $2000 car. I'd strip it try and sell the roller for cheap, if no bites strip it completely and junk the body.

There is a lot better out there for that money.

I also don't see anything there that sounds appetizing at the $5500 price point.
Especially since it sounds like it needs paint.

Without pics, i agree with bentley, sounds like a sub 2k car.

Mike i feel too you can get a lot more for the money. I bought my coupe with brand new cobra replicas , exhaust , tb , and bbk bull intake in good shape for 3800. Mind you it was an aod car with red interior otherwise stock.

Wow. Someone else just posted that exact sane car in another thread. I tossed 4k out as a good number. Definitely not worth more than that after your description of it.

Even here in Ontario, that car isn't worth any more than about $4,000, so $3,500US sounds about right. If he won't take it, I really think you should walk. Most of the Fox body sellers I've seen don't live on a little planet I like to call earth when it comes to finding the middle ground on what they think their junk is worth and what it's really worth. He's not there yet.

Besides, knowing how meticulous you are with attention to detail, this thing could end up costing you another $3-$4k in a hurry and be over a year before it's on the road.

Points to consider....

The under hood area is filthy and looks to be a wiring nightmare.
The paint and a lot of the body is for
That hood is horrible
All of the exterior lights (head and tail) need to be replaced.
That drivers door has had it.
and I can tell by the yellowing of the door panels and the dash that this car has been heavily smoked it. Looks like it's had a fresh shampoo to clean it up, but there's just no hiding some things.

...and that's just from the few pictures you've posted.

That car is a project and should be priced accordingly. Most certainly not turn key, or worth $5,500US.

I bet you $1 that Tremec is really just a newer Tremec T-5.

Car is nothing special. I'd have to get it for cheap to consider it. If he thinks he can get $5.5K for it...i should list mine for $10K
