If they are dead coils (resting right on each other) then they do nothing but add height. No change in spring rate.

i have intrax 2" drop springs and for me they are too low. i want some with a 1.5" drop. they have been on the car for about 14 months (~12,000 miles). pm me if you want to trade.
the C springs are able to be cut probably because they don't have a progressive spring rate like the eibach's do. But the eibach's could have some 'dead' coils

Yes, a dead coil is one where it is already touching the coil next to it and therefore is not doing anything (otehr than adding overall length) when the spring is compressed.
