Roush Opinions On Upgrading 2000 Saleen SC

Hi guys, I have posted a couple times before using KICK851056 before the system lost my name i changed it to this. I own a 2000 sc saleen convertible (series 1 :notnice: ) and was wondering how fast I can get it with these mods. I have not dynoed it yet or ran it at the track.

3.73 Gears, Chicane 66 mm pulley, Accufab 75 mm throttle body, 42lb fuel injectors, 90mm lightening MAF, 255 lph fuel pump, JLT CAI, Bassani O/R X pipe, BBK Long Tube Headers. Sct Chip and Tune of course, lol Also is there anything else bolt on wise I should get. I know i also need I think the NGK tr6 spark plugs .038.

After that I was planning on getting the Manifold and blower ported and the S5 inlet kit. How much does this usually run. I am from jersey, probably outrageous would be doing the work.

See I really do not want to swap out the blower, How fast do you think I could get this in the quarter with everything posted or just with the bolt on's. I was thinking low 12's maybe high 11's  but I am not sure. But any information would help because my funds are almost all together. Thanx alot guys

Rob,

I've got a 2000 coupe, series I, actually bought it at Downs Ford down in Toms River. I'm from up north tho, Bergen county.

Had it on a dyno- stock with the Chicane RIPP, ran 306 HP 355 TQ. It was real rich up top with that stock tune.

Recently had some stuff put on- Chicane Pump, 42 lb injectors, 90 MM, Densecharger Meter Forward, SCT tune. I am scheduled for the Dyno tomorrow at 2pm- i'll post my results in the forum.

Because of the Series I’s inefficiencies, I would do all the port work and Series V inlet first, along with sealing the gaps between the heat exchanger in the manifold. I know some people have changed out the front mounted intercooler but have never seen before/after data posted.

Of course, full power will be realized with all the modifications performed but if you add the smaller pulley before the porting and heat exchanger work, the blower will make more heat than power. Even with a good tune, the motor will still be subjected to high intake charge temperatures and additional stress.

I don’t hear anyone talk about this these days but the biggest gear recommended for a Series I on a manual transmission car used to be 3.55. Again, this has to do with poor blower efficiency and its power band in relation to gearing. If the port work is done before or at the same time as the gear change, you will probably experience more favorable results.

I pretty much have the same plan as you do but have not committed to dropping so much money into trying to maximize power from the Series I. For this car, I want to keep the Saleen blower intact. Good luck with your mods. I am looking forward to reading about your progress. If you can, dyno the car with air/fuel checked and if possible, find out what your stock intake charge temps are.

Thanx for the replies guys. I am just so inbetween swapping out the blower or just doing everything I can to the series 1. I here everything great about the Kenny Bell But it is pretty expensive. But also I guess all the work I was planning on doing to the series 1 is also expensive. I am just not sure. If i got the Kenny Bell How what do u think would be my dyno numbers approx.?

Thanx again

With the kenne bell your number s would be 400/400 or more. A guy has a 1.7L Kb on here and he makes 433rwhp on a stock motor with a safe tune. And once you biuld your motor, 500-600RWHp is possible when u up the boost.

anytime you push that kind of power (400+rwhp) on a stock short block, you're taking a chance. the most i've ever seen on a KB 1.7L was 464rwhp and about the same on rwtq. that's with a built motor, cams, etc. the 1.7L simply runs out of giddy'up and maxes out it's potential. 464 on a KB though is up there, you would destroy most any centri blower set up.
