Well, my combo will be self ported e7's with stock valves, forged 306 approx. 9.5:1, trick flow #1 cam, BBK LT's, FMS 65 TB, etc. etc. I always had the cobra planned until i noticed something about the edelbrock I like. The upper to lower middle bolts are on the floor of the upper, doing away with the kink in the upper with the cobra. I like the cobra for it's price and built in EGR spacer, but don't like that kink. What do you guys think? Which is easier to install?

The Performer flows better and has more even numbers per runner. The install should be about the same.

BTW: How do you like the TFS Stage 1 cam? My combo is somewhat similar.

i think the answer lies in your combination/intended use. the performer will make more peak hp at a higher rpm than the cobra, but the cobra will have great low end #'s by comparison. if this is for your daily driver either would be a great intake but the cobra is the more street friendly of the two.

I went through the same choice myself when I was going to buy an intake. This was my thoughts.

Cobra: Has it's own EGR, cheaper, well known as a good intake.
Performer: I would have to but an EGR Spacer with TB, it cost more, but is know to be a good intake also, AFR recomends it, the plenium can be opened for porting or the upper can be changed, has better reviews in the reviews section of Stangnet.

So I bought the Performer.

Edlebrock ***claims*** no loss in low end torque with the Performer over the stock intake. I wouldn't know, I have the RPM style and they made no such claims about them  but I will agree with everyone there is way more room to grow. The Performer has bigger runners out of the box than I think is possible to port the Cobra out to, and as 90mustangGT said, it's a helluva lot easier to port the upper with the removeable plate. That kink in the main throat is no great idea either, as you already surmised.

Both are good. Cobra is cheaper and if you take into account that you don't need an EGR spacer it is even more cheaper. I personally think it looks better. But the performer is a great intake. Leaves room to grow.
