Picture request, dual tone cars?

I agree. It looks gross.

Although, the red/black roof isn't horrible.

Red/black roof actually looks pretty nice! Ford guy all my life. Decided wanted a brand new car in ‘95. Because of this Mustang body style, I made my only venture to GM with a Trans Am. Had I seen that red/ black top... it may have kept me Ford. (I eventually came back with my F150).

Sorry, I'm not on board with the idea that nothing can look good unless it's been done before.

First, how dare you. How dare you compare our beloved Mustangs to those... things.

Second, I'm not proposing something unpainted, I'm proposing factory black. Very different.

Last, how dare you.

You couldn't be more wrong. If I was set on a plan, I'd just do it. I wouldn't care about the advice of internet strangers. I came here because I'm *not* set on a plan. I'm looking for help/advice. And yes, it does look gross.

I definitely know a horse's ass when I see one.

I've done that. Two different paint stores have been unable to tell me what color it is. My last shot is a national paint supply company about 20 miles from me. If they fail as well, what's your suggestion then?

Not my photo, hope the owner doesn't mind. If he does, I'll take it down.

I dunno, I kinda like it (but I don't love it). But Photoshop isn't the same as real life, which is why I asked for photos.

I’ll say this..... the first time I’ve seen a pic of this body style that I was like “that looks pretty nice” is that red one with the black top. Other than that, not a fan at all of these years. My opinions aside about what I like and don’t like (cause it don’t really matter), but I will say this:
If your expecting any help, advice, or useful knowledge, you may have shut that faucet off with your reactions to three of the most active and knowledable contributors to this area of the forum....... But, carry on as you wish!

Dude, just go away. I don't know what crawled up your tailpipe and made you think you're God, but you really don't deserve the designation. You don't get to define subjective definitions, and calling me a liar isn't worthwhile because I know I'm not.

Thanks to this thread, but not your pathetic responses, I'm leaning away from this plan. But seriously, please don't bother replying again. You're just making everything worse.

Did my sarcasm about the 'how dare you' not come through? I wrote all that with a smile. As for that other dude, I don't care what he knows. He's one of the least pleasant forum members I've encountered in nearly 25 years of internet access, and I moderate one of the largest forums in the world in my main genre of interest.

There’s plenty of new guys that come in and think they know it all and The Yo u never hear from them again. They must have never learned how to “enter a room”.
If I mistook you for that, my apologies, and welcome aboard...... but there is a ton to learn on here for sure. Does everyone have their personality quirks.... yeah. But we’re typing on a phone, computer, whatever..... so I’ve learned to get passed, it and have fun along the way.

The red and black looks sweet. I love this body style myself and always have. For me, it's right behind the original few years, and just in front of the brand new Mustangs. '99-'04 were the dark years for me.

Check my join date. :-)

Been a while since I've been active, just lurked, because life (kids!) took away my ability to do anything car related.

My wife tells me I sound like an a$$ sometimes, but I rarely intend to be! Hard to believe that is true for everyone.

I started with a ‘65 in high school. Ended up with a Fox by college years. Hope to get my hands on a 60’s car again, but the Fox was more budget friendly right now. As I’ve aged, I kind of see something I like in all of them, but time, space, and money are three things I don’t have enough of. So I hope to turn this 86 I’ve got into something special over the next few years! We’ll see where it leads me!

I'm a touch behind you, being born in '85. I drove a '93 2.3L for years. Desperate for more, I got a '95 5.0 in high school. Father son project car that I desperately regret selling. Now I'm back with a '94.

Paint is always my kryptonite. Was then, is again.

I hear you..... after my trans am it was an f150 for Home Depot and Lowe’s runs......(still happening). But now my daughters in HS and I have some time to play with cars again (before she decides on a college). Lol

Same here with my ‘65. Learned everything on that car with my dad.

Now that I can see a pic of what you're thinking of I'm not a fan , but that's just my opinion.
I think if you carried the black farther up to a body line, like above the c-sculpt it might not look bad.
Like someone else suggested you could wrap it, there are plenty of diy videos on this. If you're not confident
with your paint skills and budget is tight this could be an option.

It does seem to be a universal opinion, so that's pretty telling. As for wrapping, it seems not only extremely difficult to do well, but certainly not cheap, either. Plus, the matte look just isn't my thing I suppose there are glossy wraps, but I sure never see them.

Seeing that photoshop pic, it actually isn't all bad. But your car was a V6 to begin with, right? So you don't have the wing on the trunk lid to help balance it out like the photoshop pic? Maybe you could add a wing, then maybe even have the windows tinted to help add a little more to it. Maybe even paint the roof. It's not near as bad as my mind's eye was making it out to be. But I think you'll want to add a little more black to the car to go with the bumpers and side skirts.

Here is a thread on the subject.
A wrap is worth looking into and they may be able to match your paint and it does come in shiny stuff
