ported plenum

I had a ported stock plenum. It was a nice little gain but, the C&L still yielded better results.

I did the porting myself. I've done several GT's in the area. It's not that difficult, just time consuming. The best way to see the difference, is get with a friend that has a stock GT plenum and compare. There's a 'hump' in the back of the plenum that should be removed and smoothed over. Other than that, it should be overall larger and smoother.

Pretty straight forward, although, I'd still recommend the C&L. I polished mine out when I got it. :)

Go to www.hiperformancesolutions.com. See what you think about this new intake and plenum.

Welcome to StangNet, bottlebobh! I see you are from El Paso, just like hiperformancesolutions...what a coincidence! Do you work for them? You have two posts and both are telling us to check out the new intake and plenum. Honestly, the company appears to be more of a speciality company, not necessarily in the high performance parts market. But, this is just my opinion and based upon what I have learned from viewing the website. Do you know what kind of R&D was performed to design this new intake and plenum? It appears to simply be a copy of the OEM design, only not made of plastic (which is a good thing!). Interesting, but really not that impressive. (Hey, you asked what we think!)

The item you listed is invalid now.. i did get one off of ebay and it was REALLY nice and ported. the guy i got it from is on Modular Depot as well. He was selling the Gas Petal Spracers in the for sell section. I can't remember his name though.

Oh.. and btw.. you will know if its more than just "shined up".. have you ever looked inside your plenum? it is all gouged and the welds are visible and everything. its awful.

Yep, you are so right! The casting marks are unreal. It looks like the molds were not quite lined up, and with Quality being Job One, they musta said, "F-it". Underneath the EGR valve the casts are almost 1/8" off! Since my OEM plenum was sitting in a box, I grabbed it out and have been porting it in my spare time over the part couple of weeks. Just about done with the 'porting' half, now need to go back and polish. I am also polishing the outside. I've already ripped the running horse off the top, and removed the ridges that framed the horse to give it a flat top look. Just trying to do something different with it...lots of work though, but it will be cool when I am done (maybe!?) Having fun though...

Polishing the outside is HARD if you do it by hand.. i tried it.. heh. I didn't get near finished. I'm sure it will look great when you are done though. 01PonyGT.. even if the guy does a "SEMI" good job on the P&P.. its better than stock. If you took your Plenum off, cleaned it out and looked at it, you'd see what we mean.

I see that this thread was raised from the dead. Thanks for the replies. I ended up buying the Trickflow Plenum....I was buying a bunch of things from Summit Racing and thought I'd throw it into the order and give it a try. Anyway, I know that the Trickflow Plenum didn't yield the best results for those that Dyno tested the plenums, but I'm pleased with it in combination with the Ford Racing/SVO 70mm TB.

I took that stupid horse off also. I think it looks 10 times better. As far as porting I noticed a good amount of difference in power and a lot of scraps on the floor where i did the porting I guess that means there was a lot that needed gutted out

Yep, even with my dremel, flexible drive and all kinds of attachments, it's proving to be a challenge - tons of nooks and cranies. But I am out to prove that it CAN be done it it WILL look nice...at least this is what I keep telling myself. :D
