pressure plate removal

hey guys,

i got my engine and tranny pulled and now i am trying to prepare it to get on the stand but i can't get my pressure plate off. i removed all 6 bolts but it still wont come off. i am obviously missing something here and hoping someone can help me out

any advice?

just pry it off. There is no reason it should not come right off. Just try not to gouge anything. maybe put a rag around the pry bar and work it around.

I don't know if I'd pry against the flywheel. It's probably stuck on the alignment pins; is it rusty? You could try hitting the pins with some penetrating oil and letting it sit for a while. Then tapping the plate with a rubber mallet to loosen it.

Prying would be a last resort.

Ed is right, it is just stuck on the 3 alignment dowels, you may be able to wiggle it off once you hit it with a litttle PB blaster. Just hold on to it as it comes off, and watch your toes..lol I stick my finger in the disk splines to hold it together.

thanks, i got it off but i ended up prying it off with a flat head. it was on there pretty good. hopefully i did not do any damage. i just pryed it rigt at the top where the pressure plate first meets the flywheel.

if i did any damage will that be repaired when i get it machined?
